Since the early 1900s, Ford Philanthropy, the global philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, has partnered with the American Red Cross to support communities when they need it most. What began with providing Model T ambulances during World War I and supporting the Red Cross Motor Corps in World War II has grown into a long-standing partnership focused on showing up for communities as they respond to and recover from crises.
Today, Ford Philanthropy continues this legacy of collaboration. On Red Cross Giving Day, Ford Philanthropy will match donations up to $250,000. Your gift can go twice as far in providing shelter, food, and emergency assistance to people affected by disasters.

Cindy Pennie is a retired nurse who used her specialized skills to save a life while working at a Red Cross shelter.
Cindy has been a volunteer with @RedCrossOK since 2017 and recently deployed to Florida to support Disaster Health Services and families who evacuated during Hurricane Helene.
As she was getting ready for bed, Cindy learned that a woman staying in the shelter was experiencing chest pain. She asked someone to call 911 while she stepped in to help.
The woman began to have a seizure and went into cardiac arrest. Equipped with her nursing background and a CPR certification that was renewed just a few weeks prior, Cindy knew she had to act fast.
She grabbed an AED and performed CPR until the woman regained a pulse and began talking to people around her. An ambulance took the woman to the hospital where she recovered, thanks to Cindy’s quick actions.
“I think everybody should learn CPR and not be afraid of it," Cindy said. "It’s a lot easier than you think to save a life. If I can do it, you can do it.”
More than 10,000 of our volunteers are nurses and health professionals. We're so grateful for volunteers like Cindy who give their time and talent to help save lives. ❤️

A sonogram. Family photos. Birthday cards. A pink stuffed rabbit. These are some of the items that Amanda Shephard salvaged from her friends' home after an EF4 tornado ripped through their community in Barnsdall, Oklahoma.
Amanda met Ashley and Craig Green at a farmers market about a decade ago, while selling honey in the stall next to Craig's homemade cutting boards. When she heard what happened to their family, she decided to visit their home and salvage any mementos she could find for them as they focused on recovering.
The Greens' story is heart-wrenching — they suffered severe injuries during the tornado, using a mattress to protect their three children as they sheltered in a bathtub.
Doug Paugh and Matt Trotter with the @RedCrossOK were visiting the affected area when they saw Amanda starting her search. They jumped in to help her and other neighbors comb through the rubble of their damaged homes.
More than 150 Red Cross disaster responders remain on the ground throughout Oklahoma, helping people recover through relief supplies and financial assistance. They’ve distributed nearly 27,000 meals and snacks, and more than 7,700 relief items with partners.
You can help make a difference for many people plagued by severe weather across the country by donating to our disaster relief efforts. Every gift makes a difference: rdcrss.org/3UG5lxY
