I used Codex or Claude in Chrome to help develop advanced checklists inside of CompanyCam, and it’s pretty awesome. Highly suggest doing that.

Well it looked like Apple was offering this cool thing that would make AI videos of your photo library but, like many things of Apple's these days, it appears broken

Smart and humble. reminds me of me
I have a good track record of being right about everything and in my opinion AI will not destroy us all but will on balance make everything better.

I haven’t seen this many smart people lined up for an obviously bad idea since Net Neutrality.

My parents died suddenly in a car accident 25 years ago this year. I was 21, and became a guardian for my little brother and sister (10 and 12 at the time). I've spoken about the accident and its impact on a couple of podcasts, but it's fresh on my mind as my brother just shared with me a handwritten letter I sent to him at his school. He's kept it with him ever since. I've transcribed it below; he told me last night that it's helped him many times over the past two decades. Sharing it here in case what I said back then in an attempt to help a little lost boy is of assistance to anyone else. 23 July 2002 To Harry, From Freddie. 1. Don't panic. 2. You have many people watching your back. I am one of them and I am watching it very closely. 3. The accident was nobody's fault. Therefore we cannot legitimately blame anyone for it. We call it an accident for this reason. 4. We cannot bring Mummy and Daddy back – but this has important consequences: – We need to remember what they taught us. – We need to behave as they would have wanted us to. – Because they are not alive, but we are, we owe both ourselves and their memory a duty to live as well and as fully as we possibly can, not to give in, not to give up. Because of the accident we have been given a very special insight into what it means to be alive – to live as fully as we can, to consider others, to work at what we are good at, and work even harder at what is difficult. Something has been wasted, something has been lost. We must make sure that our lives are not. We shall always regret that Mummy and Daddy are not here – let us not regret anything we do, or know that we had a chance and threw it away. Whatever happens, I have got your back. Even if I do sometimes hit you with cricket balls. Run straight, look your foe in the eye, and never back down. Strength and honour! I love you very much.

Drill this into your brain: What you want 10 years from now will be entirely different from what you want right now. Optimizing the rest of your life for what you want right now and deferring what you want right now for later in life are equally dangerous. The 20-year-old brain yearns to travel the world because it's encoded for exploration. They're told to wait until they've made it, and spend the next 30 years daydreaming about the day they retire, only to reach that point and realize their 60-year-old brain wants different things. Your goal should be to achieve that which feeds your soul right now, while building towards what you anticipate to matter in the future. This requires a level of multi-order thinking that most can't entertain, which is why they end up deferring their entire life or becoming slaves to immediate gratification. We see this play out into two archetypes: The Peter Pan and the masochist. One sacrifices his future for the present, and one sacrifices his present for the future. Neither enjoys the full human experience. As with all things, the one who can learn from both, avoid common pitfalls, and forge his own path truly wins in the end.

Luke retweeted
"ive been in office for 13 years and our yearly budget is 7 trillion but we can't help children unless we steal from the guy doing spaceflight"
If Elon Musk paid my ultra-millionaire wealth tax, we could pay for child care for all three and four year olds in America.

We have moved on to entirely new moral panics, such as [squints, checks notes] water consumption in datacenters. And in a few years (or months, or weeks, or days), that will be completely forgotten too.
You’ll notice there is no look-back celebration or remembrance of this or virtually any of the other great moral victories from that era. It’s all been memory holed, a will-o'-the-wisp dimming out in the far distance.
