Do we do modelling and say the parking/'traffic impacts' are too bad, or do we enable children to experience #cyclingjoy and be active participants in cities? These boys cycle to bmx tracks and were going to the museum. Keep working for better streets friends! #Liveablecities
xitter.cf/victoriawalks/status/1… So relevant, as I read consultant reports using this term. Needless to say, I am unimpressed. Meanwhile, levels of car driving not highlighted as problem, incl in terms of exposure and Safe System approach (asked for). We so need to change our thinking. 😩
Yet again a driver ran a long red light at the ped-cyclist crossing on Park Tce. With 60km/h, this is a death scenario for a person on the crossing. @TKoutsantonisMP @DFIT_SA where's the Safe System? Should be 50km/h with Raised Safety Platforms, else not Safe System. @RAAofSA
Urban sprawl is questionable urban planning and leads to long (driving) commute times - incompatible with the strategic objectives of increasing liveability, decarbonisation, social cohesion and health and wellbeing. @TKoutsantonisMP @NickChampionMP abc.net.au/news/2024-07-08/a…
Again driver failed to give way to me walking across ring road slip lane. Sign's been there over a year (against your own DIT guidelines) @TKoutsantonisMP @DFIT_SA and it is not a safe system. Sick to (hopefully not) death (or serious injury) of it. Accountability in safe system?
Patriot. RAM. Rogue. Then there’s Lekker. There’s something in a name, isn’t there?
#wankpanzer
Collecting family Sunday night fish and chips by “small car” while a bloke needed his RAM apparently. #cyclingjoy #wankpanzer
I have seen a few Aus installations of secure cycle parking eg emicro by Stonnington but are there any cycle hangers in Australia? cyclehoop.com/product-catego…
Again, no pedestrian signals on a crossing of the 60km/h Adelaide ring road. It’s as though @DFIT_SA @TKoutsantonisMP don’t care or recognise that people walk/wheel and cycle (for transport). Left for week(s) if it were signals for motor vehicles? @Walking_SA @bicyclesa @RAAofSA
Who thinks there is insufficient evidence to change currently high and minimum car parking rates, and not increase dispensations near PT/employment centres @NickChampionMP? Status quo to reduce emissions, increase liveability and wellbeing? 🤷♀️ @kinokofry @hulya_gilb
Nihola taxi trike Nantu Wama #parkrun set up! Was almost 30 degrees (heading for 40 today) so very much #cyclingjoy with the breeze on the downhill! #parkrunau #adelaidecycling #adelaide
Another day, another major delay. Our speed limits aren't Safe System aligned. 50km/h is the critical speed for vehicle-vehicle side collisions. 50km/h (or less based on location) on urban arterial roads would reduce the likelihood + severity of crashes. Fewer significant delays.
Fewer lives lost, fewer serious injuries. As per South Australia's Road Safety Strategy, @DFIT_SA has a responsibility to create a safer road environment for all users. Who is being accountable for meeting targets to zero? @joe_szakacs @PMalinauskasMP @TKoutsantonisMP @RAAofSA
We have to do more for the safety of people walking/wheeling and cycling. The only traffic signal for the city bound ped crossing on the ring road Park Tce- War Memorial Dr taken out last week. Still not replaced. Where’s the care? @DFIT_SA @TKoutsantonisMP ?
Another reason for 30km/h might be that drivers react better with less rule 128 breaking. #30please Anyway, enforcement would be appreciated @SAPoliceNews @joe_szakacs @TKoutsantonisMP and education @RAAofSA. Intimidating and increases risk for people walking/wheeling, cycling.
