Australia is a country where elderly people can't safely cross a road. Our leaders claim it can't be changed because asking drivers to watch out and drive slowly in neighbourhoods where there are no crossings is too "controversial". I don't believe they got that right. #30please

Replying to @RACV_Official
60km/h was murderous 50km/h kills 40km/h is sub-optimal 30km/h is the right limit to protect children on residential streets.

Also great to see the study looks at railway station access. Just as with shopping, it's a popular myth that most people drive to the station. In most suburbs, and across the rail network generally, this isn't true - despite huge investment in car parks.🚉🚶🚶‍♀️ – at Melbourne, Victoria

People like to say "a lot of people can't ride bikes" but never point out that a lot of people can't drive, & that for many, biking & walking are necessary (under 16, aging with weak eyes, can't afford a car, transit doesn't meet needs, can't get a license, etc.) Why is that?

The ethos behind Vision Zero is commendable. But talk is only as good as the actions that support it. Politicians must do better than lip service or nothing will improve. In fact, things may get worse. Step one is prioritising safe space on our streets. citymetric.com/transport/net…
