1) Stop doing this. It's completely unethical.
2) This is not a problem with "the polling industry." It is a problem with media, aggregators, and social media. Real pollsters who do real work are not the problem. Leave us out of your accusations and diatribes.
The polling industry needs major reform. Our statement below:

Wedgewood Polls released this statement after FiftyPlusOne contacted them regarding evidence of fabricated poll data. They had shared fraudulent raw data the prior day and raised crowdfunding for polls presented as legitimate.

Wedgewood solicited money for fraudulent purposes to make up a fake poll according to this account.
I have a massive issue with Wedgewood, and now I can finally talk about it. Back when they were first getting started, they were looking for people to increase credibility to presumably get on 50+1/NYT, and these poll-tracking accounts.
We had contacted them, just because we were curious, and they had offered to do a poll for $200. Their reasoning for it being so cheap is that they wanted to get their name out, and they were going to "eat most of the costs" from a $10,000 grant. That being said, we thought it was low-risk, so at worst, it would just be a low-quality poll.
However, after we paid them, he gave us a poll and claimed the poll was completed in less than a day. We got this despite it being a national poll with an LV sample! We knew right away it was fake, but because of difficulties tracking down the owner and possible risks, we didn't want to say anything. He clearly used Claude, and I hope this whole thing leads to higher standards being practiced by everyone, from polling tracking accounts to polling averages.

🚨 NEWS: Republican Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany’s campaign finance records reveal that a donor has been covering his apartment rent while his campaign spent over $70,000 on private air travel in just TWO MONTHS. And that's not all. meidasnews.com/news/tom-tiff…

As one of the candidates featured in these polls - the infamous one in late June that showed me plummeting into single digits (which was at odds with our internals) - here's the impact of this "experiment"
- Donations dried up
- Volunteers were devastated and pleading for guidance on what to do
- Reporters hounded me with calls to drop out
Sure, a point was proven. Polling is broken. But tens of thousands of people poured their hearts, time, energy, hard-earned money into something they believed in - for a year-and-a-half, and it was treated like a game. Our volunteers gave their all. And then some. I felt like I had let so many of them down.
To be extremely clear, Michigan Democrats are locked in to beat Mike Rogers. We WILL send @AbdulElSayed to the US Senate.
But between crap like this, endless fundraising texts that drive supporters away with spammy fake deadlines and trash "match" claims, scam PACs run rampant for firms to grift without actually supporting candidates, undisclosed content creators pushing content out either misrepresenting themselves as residents of states they don't live in or hiding whether they were paid and by who so they could make a buck, and the tidal wave of dark money ads -- I hope Democrats are ready to blow up the system with campaign finance and transparency reforms.
Trust is already at an all-time low. We don't get out of this mess without rebuilding trust.
And media - who loves to ride the drama of a pollercoaster - needs to take a hard look at what's legitimate and what's not.
If this teaches us anything - DON'T GET COMPLACENT AND DON'T TRUST THE POLLS.
LOCK IN. SIGN UP FOR A CANVASSING SHIFT. LEAVE NOTHING TO CHANCE OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.

So Wedgwood was a grift organization to boost left wing candidates in primaries by making them seem more competitive in the general? Do I have that right?

OUCH, terrible look for @MikeAlfonsoWI- he's running scared.
Then again, when you're propped up by daddy (in law) $$$, who else do you need to be accountable to?
Awful how much outside money has come into WI's great Northwoods to buy this seat. Pathetic, many are saying!

Who plans a statewide tour without a single stop in Milwaukee, the largest city in Wisconsin and home of the World Series-bound Brewers???
Maybe he just doesn’t want to remind voters @DavidCCrowley got the deal done to keep the Brewers in MKE.
