this new crap going around claiming that a lot of tech workers are lazy & need to be thrown into 80+ hr work weeks in order to perform to high standards / create good products is absolutely hitting a nerve with me. it is not healthy & it is not okay.

i am not willing to participate in a culture or professional work environment that tells me i am useless as a human & engineer if i don't work myself into the ground & burn out just to put money in the pockets of billionaires.

So to summarise. There are now two blue checkmarks. One always tells the truth. One always lies. One leads the way to the castle. One will send you to the bog of eternal stench

And after a frustrating troubleshooting session where you don't see anything wrong, you follow up and the person says that there was a bug in the application update and it was listening on the wrong port. Problem was resolved by rolling back the update.

Truth! Example: Often “connection timed out” errors are forwarded to the network engineering team, without investigating other possible problems first. This is followed by hours of troubleshooting and message exchanges, only to find out the cause was a server update.

“we think the problem may be the network” ok cool call me when you have any evidence of that whatsoever

Came to a school today to help them fix a switch that they were going to use for a lan.
- Are you here to help us fix our game-day? one kid asked.
- Yes. Yes I am.
And they all looked so happy. Felt like I was a superhero 🦸♀️🤩

When the job description has cloud+networking+automation+sdn+sdwan+nfv+APIs+ansible+terraform+python+CI/CD it's definitely not an 'Entry Level Network Engineer' role. These are enough requirements to fill an entire NetDevOps team.
