Oh wow - I don't keep an eye on my website stats, but I did just notice that I passed 400,000 total views a while ago. Blimey! Big ups all the pals in network engineering who read my new posts & then refresh the page 25,000 times.

Watching this episode of Between 0x2 Nerds, on the deep details of Juniper forwarding hardware. Well worth a watch, really interesting. Take my advice: watch this one slowly, and take breaks every 10 mins. Lots to take in, but fascinating stuff. youtube.com/watch?v=1he8GjDB…

As it happens, there's a video of a talk by Radia (the lead creator of IS-IS) where she exactly answers your question youtube.com/watch?v=qXz_RxBF… - Answer is at 38m54s, but start at 36m03s for context. And watch the whole thing, it's really interesting

BYTESIZE JUNOS TIP! This one's for Junos newbies. You can type as much config as you like, and none of it goes live until you're happy. This lets you undo mistakes, and start again. Just type "rollback" to scrap your changes. You're rolling back to the config you started with.
