URGENT: A leaked HHS memo proposes cutting all funding to the National #ALS Registry. This would erase decades of critical research & let down 20,000+ who've contributed. We’re calling on Congress to stop this NOW. Read our letter and take action today: als.org/blog/als-registry-un…

Privileged to have contributed to this work; congrats to the whole team! Among many exciting findings, we show evidence of #bloodbrainbarrier changes across sporadic and familial ALS/FTLD
Excited and proud to share our #SingleCell dissection of #ALS and #FTLD out in #Cell this week, across 620,000 cells, 44 cell types, 73 donors, and two brain regions. Although ALS affects #movement vs. FTLD #cognition, the two are nearly identical in the cell types, genes, and pathways they affect, both in #familial (monogenic) and in #sporadic (polygenic) cases, providing hope and candidate targets for common #therapeutic programs, implicating #LongRange-projecting neurons, and #cilia genes and pathways, necessary for their growth, but also #vascular changes and blood-brain-barrier function and integrity. What causes #brainfog in #COVID_19? Our new study @Brain1878 shows that mild SARS-CoV-2 infection suppresses #cerebrovascular Wnt/beta-catenin activity, opening the #blood_brain_barrier. BBB-targeted Wnt ligands mitigate cognitive impairment in mice. A brief tweetorial!
