If the @MMuizzu administration is genuinely opposed to genocide, why is it backing the UAE candidate for the next UN Secretary-General?
The UAE has been widely accused of complicity in genocide in Sudan, as well as atrocities in Yemen and other places in Africa.
It was also reported that the UAE offered South Africa billions in investment in exchange for dropping its ICJ genocide case against Israel.

‘ޤަތުލުޢާންމު’ އަކީ ޖެނޮސައިޑް.
ޤަތުލުޢާންމުގެ ކުށް ހުއްޓުވުމާއި އަދަބު ދިނުމާބެހޭ ބައިނަލްއަޤްވާމީ މުޢާހަދާ (ޖެނޮސައިޑް ކޮންވެންޝަން) ގައި ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއިން ބައިވެރިވެފައިވަނީ 24 އެޕްރީލް 1984 ގައި. އެ މުޢާހަދާގެ 5 ވަނަ މާއްދާގައި، އެ މުޢާހަދާއަށް ޢަމަލުކުރުމަށްޓަކައި އެ މުޢާހަދާގައި ބައިވެރިވެފައިވާ ޤައުމުތަކުން ހަދަންޖެހޭ ޤާނޫނުތައް ހެދުމާއި، ޖެނޮސައިޑްއާ ގުޅޭ ކުށްތަކަށް ޤާނޫނުގެ ދަށުން އަދަބު ކަނޑައެޅުން ލާޒިމްކޮށްފައިވޭ. ނަމަވެސް، އޭގެ ފަހުން 42 އަހަރު ވެގެން ދިޔައިރުވެސް ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއިން މި ޒިންމާ އަދާކޮށްފައެއްނުވޭ.
މުސްލިމުންނާ ދެކޮޅަށް ޤަތުލްޢާންމުގެ ކުށްތައް ހިންގާފައިވާ އަދި ހިންގަމުންދާ ޤައުމުތަކާ ދެކޮޅަށް އިންޓަރނޭޝަނަލް ކޯޓް އޮފް ޖަސްޓިސް (އައި.ސީ.ޖޭ.) ގައި ހިނގަމުންދާ މައްސަލަތަކެެއް ކަމުގައިވާ، “ދަ ގެމްބިއާ ވ. މިޔަންމާ” އަދި “ސައުތު އެފްރިކާ ވ. އިސްރާއީލު” މައްސަލަތަކަށް ދިވެހި ސަރުކާރުން ވަނީ ތަދައްޚުލުވެ، ޖެނޮސައިޑްގެ ކުށްތައް ހިންގާ ޤައުމުތައް ޖަވާބުދާރީ ކުރުވައި، ހަރުކަށި ފިޔަވަޅު އެޅުމަށް ވަކާލާތުކޮށްފައި. ނަމަވެސް، އެހެން ޤައުމުތަކުން ޖެނޮސައިޑް ކޮންވެންޝަނަށް ކަމޭހިތުމަށް ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއިން ގޮވާލާއިރު، ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއިން އެ މުޢާހަދާގެ ދަށުން ކުރުން ލާޒިމްކޮށްފައި އޮތް ކަމެއް ކޮށްފައި ނެތުމަކީ، އެކަމުގެ ސަބަބުން ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއިން ހުށަހަޅާފައިވާ ޤާނޫނީ ނުކުތާތަކަށް އަސަރުކުރާކަމެއް.
ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ޤާނޫނުލްޢުޤޫބާތަށް ގެނައުމަށް ސަރުކާރުގެ ފަރާތުން ހުށަހަޅާފައިވާ އިޞްލާޙަކީ، ޖެނޮސައިޑް ކޮންވެންޝަންއާ އެއްގޮތްވާ ގޮތުގެމަތިން ޤަތުލުޢާންމު ހިންގުމަކީ ޖިނާއީ ކުށެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި ކަނޑައަޅައި، އެ ކުށުގެ އަދަބު ބަޔާންކުރުމަށްޓަކައި ހުށަހަޅާފައިވާ އިޞްލާޙެއް. މިއީ ބައިނަލްއަޤްވާމީ ޤާނޫނުގެ ދަށުން ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއިން ކުރުން ލާޒިމްކޮށްފައިވާ ކަމެއް.

I just had a bizarre conversation with a senior PNC figure close to Muthalib. He confessed Muthalib received $1 million (23 million MVR) from Alaabar, expected a cut himself, and justified it saying “Muthalib didn’t steal anything from Maldivians” cause the money came from Alaabar, not the gov budget. The money is held in bank accounts Dubai and Singapore.

More than 90% of Maldivians oppose leasing Rasmale to you for 99 years, issuing residence visas to a large population, and allowing them to settle there. In addition to these concerns, many Maldivians are troubled by your support for the genocide in Gaza and your close ties with Jewish Zionists.
Money is not everything. The Maldives is a small island nation with limited land, a small population, and a unique culture and heritage that must be protected.
The opposition party, the MDP, has also expressed opposition to the project and called for a public referendum to determine the people's views. The opinion of the MDP chairperson @MohamedNasheed does not represent the views of the entire party.
Former President Yameen @prz_ymn and his party strongly oppose the lease of Rasmale. Many Maldivian religious scholars also oppose the project. However, some Salafi sheikhs in the Maldives have remained silent, allegedly because Bin Janab, @binjanaab the founder of the Salafi movement, is the First Lady's own brother.
Therefore, I believe it would be wiser to reconsider and abandon the Rasmale project. An investment of this scale cannot succeed in the long term without public support.

After MPs’ salaries, the next petition should address former presidents’ allowances and benefits. It’s time to start this debate.
Taxpayers have paid so far
Maumoon: 72 million
Nasheed: 43 million
Waheed: 25 million
Yameen: 9 million
Solih: 10 million
Total: 159 million.
These payments will continue, and future former presidents will become eligible too.
As a nation, we must ask, can we afford this? Are these allowances proportionate to our economic reality, national income and the living standards of ordinary Maldivians?
Public money should reflect public priorities.

This tweet calling for a group of people who are “free to think and free to speak” seems to have unsettled quite a few who wish to preserve Maldives endless cycle of choosing between the evil and the lesser evil.
To those people in two major political parties, please worry not. What we are trying to build poses no immediate threat to your power. Fixing a deeply entrenched system will take years, perhaps generations. We may not even be the ones who ultimately succeed. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try.
I have got 80+ requests and DMs awaiting replies, including some from apparent “agents” of the police and major political parties. We hope to respond over the next few days and bring everyone together in a Telegram group.
Change may not begin with us, but we can help lay its foundation.
Since no one else seems willing to take the initiative, I have decided to take it upon myself, for now, to bring together a strong team of 33 individuals who put the interests of this nation above everything else.
Basic requirements:
1. Must be independent and free to speak their mind, without political or employment-related obligations that could compromise their independence, like government jobs.
2. Must NOT have previously held senior political positions or played a leading role in any political party or a government.
