A year on from the 7th October terrorist attacks, it’s disgraceful that antisemitism is higher than ever. We must never forget the victims or give into the vile terrorism that murdered them. I was pleased to speak to @Nanaakua1 on @GBNEWS this afternoon
'The antisemitism, the anti-Israel rhetoric has only increased.' Chairman of the Young National Jewish Assembly, Michael Rowe, says the Jewish community is 'still in a state of shock' one year on from the October 7th attacks. 🔓 Become a GB News Member: gbnews.com/support

The obsession of the British Labour Government with Israel seemingly knows no bounds. The days when Israel would quietly accept threats, sanctions and attempts to dictate its policies are over. Judea and Samaria are not foreign lands to the Jewish people. Our historical rights are not subject to approval from London. The British Labour Government would do better to address the serious challenges facing its own country rather than pursue its relentless campaign against the Jewish state. Israel will not be intimidated by threats. We will defend our rights and our national interests.

All of our Councillors have signed the @CCACllrs open letter calling on the Green Party to stand up for Birmingham's Jewish resident 👇👇👇👇 @LGACons
Over 500 Conservative councillors have signed our open letter calling on Green councillors to stand up for British Jewish residents. The Green Party has declared “Zionism to be racism”. Zack Polanski didn’t stay to vote against it. And yesterday, he told Laura Kuenssberg he wouldn’t overturn it: “I don’t think this is actually controversial.” We’re asking Green councillors to disavow the motion, challenge antisemitism and reassure Jewish residents they’ll be represented without prejudice. Silence is a choice.

Three years ago today, Israel awoke to one of the darkest days in its history. On 7 October 2023, thousands of Hamas terrorists and other armed attackers crossed into Israel, murdering over 1,200 men, women and children, burning families in their homes, committing acts of unspeakable brutality and taking 251 people hostage into Gaza. This was the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust, and a day whose horror remains impossible to forget. Among those murdered were British citizens and British-Israeli nationals, including Bernard Cowan, Nathanel Young, Danny Darlington, Jake Marlowe, Aner Shapira, Dvora Abraham, Yonatan Rapoport, Lianne Sharabi, Noiya Sharabi, Yahel Sharabi, Benjamin Trakeniski, Yannai and Liel Hetzroni-Heller, Joseph Malachi Guedalia, Dor Hanan Shafir, Roi Popplewell and Rotem Kalderon. Nadav Popplewell, a British-Israeli citizen, was taken hostage and subsequently murdered in Hamas captivity. Emily Damari, a British-Israeli dual citizen from Kfar Aza, was abducted from her home and held in Gaza for 471 days before her release in January 2025. Her ordeal, and those of every hostage and every hostage family, must never be forgotten. We remember every victim by name, and every family whose lives were changed forever. In those first terrible hours and days, Israel was deeply grateful for the solidarity shown here in London. Britain unequivocally affirmed Israel’s right to defend itself, to confront Hamas, to bring the hostages home and to strengthen Israel’s security. We remain equally grateful to the many people across Britain who stood with Israel, who attended vigils, raised their voices for the hostages and refused to allow their plight to be forgotten. For the families of those murdered and kidnapped, that solidarity mattered enormously. Yet alongside this support came another deeply painful reality. On the very day of the massacre, and in the days that followed, there were demonstrations and public expressions in Britain that celebrated the attacks. Streets were filled with jubilation and marches of hate. Rhetoric surrounding Israel and Jewish people became increasingly hostile. Britain subsequently experienced a profound rise in antisemitism, with Jewish people facing intimidation and hatred in streets, schools, universities and online. This atmosphere for Jewish people continues to worsen. Those who simply expressed support for Israel’s existence and security were, too often, subjected to hostility and abuse. This has been profoundly distressing for Britain’s Jewish community and for all those who believe that Israel, like every other nation, has the right to exist in security. It is therefore a source of deep sadness that, in the years since 7 October, the position of the British Government towards Israel has changed so substantially from the solidarity expressed in those first days. We nevertheless continue to value the longstanding friendship between our two countries and the many British people who have continued to stand with Israel. Three years on, Israel remains a society marked by profound loss, but also by extraordinary resilience. Communities destroyed on 7 October have rebuilt and families have carried one another through unimaginable grief. Soldiers, emergency workers, volunteers, doctors, farmers, teachers and ordinary citizens have continued to serve their country and their communities. We remember the murdered. We remember the hostages. We remember those who returned, and those who did not. And we thank every person in Britain who, throughout these three years, stood with Israel, stood against antisemitism, and stood with the families of those taken hostage. We will remember 7 October. We will remember those we lost. And we will never forget those who stood with us.

“I wrongly gave the impression…” You asked whether it was “about time to take military action against Israel”. That wasn’t an inference or an implication. Nor was it an impression. It was your express position.
In Parliament on Monday, I wrongly gave the impression that I support the use of military force against Israel. Those are not my views, and I apologise unreservedly. I do not support military action anywhere in the Middle East and have long been a campaigner for peace and conflict resolution.

This is a hugely important article by Conservative Party leader, @KemiBadenoch . Kemi is right to challenge today’s sanctions on trade with settlements. These measures reflect a longstanding problem within the Labour Party: a repeated hostility towards Israel and a failure to take seriously the safety and interests of the British Jewish community. Labour’s de facto boycott of Israel would not only damage trade and business, it would also risk our national security. By undermining the vital intelligence relationship with Israel, this risks weakening the cooperation that helps protect British citizens from terrorism. Full piece 👇 thejc.com/opinion/labours-an…

This is truly a dark day for British Jews. Today our Government has chosen to ignore the deep concerns expressed by so many of us. The measures announced amount to little more than political flag bearing for mendacious anti-Israel rhetoric and those who harbour a dangerous obsession with the Jewish State. These measures will succeed only in bolstering the very extremism they seek to target. On the eve of Rosh Hashanah and at a time when our community is more vulnerable than ever to the wave of extremism that has been building over recent years, these sanctions do nothing to advance the cause of peace. Nor do they make anyone safer – quite the contrary. Gesture politics of this kind feeds into an increasingly hostile discourse about Israel, and the cumulative effect of such punitive policies is to further embolden those, at home and abroad, who use hatred as a weapon against Jews.

Emma, when that mini-Budget was announced, you were Managing Director of TheCityUK, which welcomed it, saying it took ‘bold action to create the conditions for economic growth’. You weren’t an MP, but your Labour colleagues at the time were calling for even MORE spending. And as my successor as City Minister, you cheered as Rachel Reeves torched jobs, hurt farmers, attacked independent education and damaged businesses. The lesson for is that all decisions must be forensically costed, with detailed ‘how-to’ plans to back them up. As a private sector finance director for 11 years, that is second nature to me and will be how the new Conservative Economic Unit will operate.
The new Shadow Chancellor backed Liz Truss to be PM and he was a Treasury Minister during the Tories disastrous 2022 mini budget which left families paying the price. Same old Tories, same old economic policies.

Priti Patel has been a consistent and vocal supporter of protecting and promoting the UK's relationship with Israel during her time as Shadow Foreign Secretary. Since coming to office this Labour government has repeatedly taken self-defeating decisions towards Israel driven by domestic political pressures rather than what is in the national interest. During this difficult period Priti has effectively and bravely led the Conservative Party's response in Parliament. We thank her for these efforts and wish her the very best in the future.

I welcomed the opportunity on Friday to meet with the Foreign Secretary, the Rt Hon. Ed Miliband. While we share fervent hopes for a future of peace and security in the Middle East, I explained why I believe the UK Government’s intended sanctions will be counter-productive and even endanger such a vision of peace. I told the Foreign Secretary that many within the UK Jewish community will view such measures with deep dismay, at a time when the vilification of Jews, Judaism and the Jewish State has already reached unprecedented levels. The intended policy will not influence Israeli decision-making in the way the Government intends. Instead, it risks inflicting real harm across the region. Given the obvious challenges of defining and implementing such measures, there is a clear danger that they will spiral into a de facto boycott of trade with Israel more broadly, damaging the long-term relationship between our two countries and threatening the livelihoods of tens of thousands of Palestinian workers. These measures will also disproportionately affect British Jews because of our close religious, family, charitable and educational ties to Israel. Over recent years, we have seen repeatedly that when rhetoric towards Israel escalates, hostility towards Jews is never far behind. I strongly condemn the reprehensible violence perpetrated against Palestinians by a small number of extremists, yet the UK Government’s proposals will only embolden the tiny minority who support such criminality, while penalising countless others who abhor it. The stated justification for punishing an ally in this way, is Israel’s long-planned construction of homes in the E1 area. Yet successive peace efforts, from Oslo to Camp David and beyond, have envisaged a final agreement in which this area would remain under Israeli sovereignty. It is therefore difficult to escape the painful conclusion that domestic political considerations are driving foreign policy, the impact of which is negative both for prospects for peace in the Middle East and for the UK Jewish community.

Once upon a time, it was Italy’s economy in the doldrums. Today Italy’s borrowing costs are lower than Britain’s. Markets and investors have more confidence in Georgia Meloni’s Italy than in Labour’s Britain. People wrote Prime Minister @GiorgiaMeloni off, saying she wouldn’t last six months. In 10 days she will be leading the longest-serving government in the history of the Italian Republic. She is a straight-talking, no-nonsense woman who knows what she believes and stands her ground. She has restored confidence in Italy, brought job creators back and shown what serious centre-right government can achieve. I wanted to understand how she did it, because after Labour, Britain is going to need exactly that kind of resolve and Conservatives are going to deliver it.

Britain should show strong leadership in tackling the challenges in the Middle East, pressing for peace and dealing with the security threats and terrorism that cause harm to our friends and allies and to our own interests. Under Labour, our influence in the Middle East is declining, and their gesture politics and slogans risk undermining our security interests and fuelling antisemitism. telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…
