Horrified by the exempt accommodation scandal in Birmingham that featured on @BBCPanorama tonight? We've long been campaigning against the growth and for a lawful change to bring it into the planning system. Sign our petition below to back the campaign birminghamconservatives.org.…

All of our Councillors have signed the @CCACllrs open letter calling on the Green Party to stand up for Birmingham's Jewish resident 👇👇👇👇 @LGACons
Over 500 Conservative councillors have signed our open letter calling on Green councillors to stand up for British Jewish residents. The Green Party has declared “Zionism to be racism”. Zack Polanski didn’t stay to vote against it. And yesterday, he told Laura Kuenssberg he wouldn’t overturn it: “I don’t think this is actually controversial.” We’re asking Green councillors to disavow the motion, challenge antisemitism and reassure Jewish residents they’ll be represented without prejudice. Silence is a choice.

This article raises serious questions about exempt accommodation in brum. Councillor links must be investigated. The Council must get tougher with failing providers. Government must finally deliver reform and bring into planning. Only @BCCTories have a plan to clean up housing.

This is why we asked Birmingham Reform how they would protect women after their candidates’ grotesque comments. Women seeking help from Reform councillors must feel safe, respected and listened to. How will they ensure women’s concerns are taken seriously?
Warning: Offensive language Reform UK MP for Runcorn and Helsby Sarah Pochin has said her party ‘excludes you if you’re a woman’ and that Reform has a ‘male issue’. The comments were made as part of an undercover investigation inside Reform UK’s political operation that has found senior party officials saying they have to “defend the indefensible”, with Nigel Farage told he was “protecting” one Reform candidate from being sacked for allegedly racist views. ITV Exposure gained unprecedented access to Reform’s Westminster headquarters, sending in an undercover reporter inside the party in January 2026, where she worked as a press officer. She secretly recorded conversations between Reform officials as they dealt with multiple accusations of racism by Reform councillors and candidates. Sarah Pochin did not respond to our request for a comment. Watch ‘Undercover: A Year in Reform’ on ITV1 & ITVX from 10:20pm on Sunday

English is packed with expressions derived from sailing ships. They’re so embedded we hardly notice them. Now Oxford University, rootless in a modern world, wants to eliminate them to placate foreigners who don’t understand why they should learn the ropes or find their feet.

Reform pretending he was nothing to do with them is ridiculous. He was elected as a Reform Cllr and they (along with Labour) tried to make him Chair of Planning. Why did they let him resign this week for "personal reasons" rather than kick him out? birminghammail.co.uk/news/mi…

The BBC moving The Archers from Birmingham where it was created in 1950 and where it has been recorded since then is really bad I think. I just don't understand how that was decided as a cut to make.

Today I raised residents concerns about negative impact of asylum hotels and HMOs on local communities with Chris Philp MP @CPhilpOfficial, Shadow Home Secretary, at this morning's @LGACons Group meeting to discuss asylum accommodation. Only @Conservatives have a plan to stop it.

Excellent letter from @Bobby_Alden protesting at the BBC's outrageous decision to stop producing the Archers in Birmingham. Makes my blood boil as lifelong Archers listener and Brummie by choice since 1999!
Shocking to hear that @BBC plan to reduce investment into #Birmingham and move our beloved The Archers out of the city. I have written to the Director General demanding they reverse the decision.

Well said @Bobby_Alden - the @BBC produces far too little in Birmingham as it is. The Archers must stay here!

Birmingham and West Midlands residents pay the licence fee too. They deserve a proper share of the investment it supports, and they deserve the BBC to honour its commitments to their city.

The Archers is part of our broadcasting heritage, but keeping it here is also about our future. Established productions sustain skills and opportunities in the creative sector. The new Digbeth headquarters should signal confidence in city, not the backdrop to another BBC retreat.

As Leader of Birmingham’s Conservative Group, I want our city’s talent to have the opportunities it deserves. BBC investment should support skilled jobs, local businesses, and routes into broadcasting for young people. Scaling back those ambitions is failing our city and region.

The national Green Party has voted to adopt its deeply divisive “Zionism is racism” motion. So Birmingham Green Party councillors now need to answer a simple question: Birmingham’s Jewish community deserves to know where their local Green councillors stand.
