The Government won't tell the truth: mass migration has driven up rents and housing costs for all of us. We absolutely need to build more homes, especially in our biggest cities. But we also need to cut immigration and make sure that only British citizens get social housing.

Labour are punishing low-tax councils with massive funding cuts. So if you've voted for low taxes, Burnham and Rayner will force your council to put taxes up anyway. For all his talk about local democracy, Burnham only cares about your vote if you vote for higher taxes.

The Labour government cut Wandsworth Council’s budget by 40%. It speaks volumes that Andy Burnham is happy to slash the funding for Conservative-run councils, but won’t touch the bloated welfare bill.

.@kevinhollinrake is quite right. The Labour government has changed local government funding to deliberately punish previously low tax Councils. Many, including Wandsworth and Bromley, are facing cuts that will either mean large tax rises or bankruptcy. This is on Labour

Wandsworth's Conservative Council are planning a 94% Council Tax rise. NINETY FOUR PERCENT. An extra £1000 on people's bills. I'm the first to argue that local government is unsustainable on its current trajectory, but 94% is special. The biggest #CouncilTax rise EVER. And then blaming the government, when of course the previous Tory government did nothing about this either. Look forward to seeing the massive media outcry on this one! Assume @SkyNews will immediately be sending in under cover reporters? I imagine they're assembling a left wing panel of guests to slate them on Cathy Newman's show right now.
