Yesterday, the Eastern Ontario Wardens' Caucus and the @wowcinc came together to discuss key priorities facing rural communities, and endorse the Elect Respect campaign and committed to the pledge. The EOWC sincerely thanks Federal, Ontario and Municipal leaders for their engagement including: 🔷Pauline Rochefort, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Rural Economic Development; 🔷@LisaThompsonPC, Ontario’s Minister of Ontario Ministry of Rural Affairs; and 🔷Christa Lowry, Chair of the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) The Elect Respect pledge represents a meaningful response to the challenges facing elected officials today. Rooted in the principles of dignity, equity, and civic responsibility, the campaign acknowledges the rise in harassment, abuse, and toxic discourse, especially targeting women and individuals from diverse backgrounds. Together, we can build a more respectful, inclusive, and vibrant democracy, one that truly reflects the voices and values of all Ontarians. 🌐 EOWC-WOWC pledge to Elect Respect: eowc.org/elect-respect/ The EOWC and WOWC represent 220 rural and small urban communities across Ontario.
