Instead of doing this, which will allow dummies to become lawyers, they should allow people without law degrees to study for the bar exam and pass it.
JUST IN: New Mexico will allow aspiring lawyers to bypass the bar exam by completing 675 hours of supervised legal work.

Walsh Bear's debut novel is a good one. You should probably check it out. Talking raccoon, protagonist who is very bright and very human, and lots of clever literary depth. There's a lot to laugh about and a lot to cry about.

To celebrate my own “graduation” from the electoral college, I felt it was only right to get a copy of @MathIntee’s well-named book. It’s a pretty great overview of the EC! I’ll probably end up lending it to my family so they can finally understand what I’ve been yapping about.

Scary stuff. Any candidate for Governor who doesn’t promise to make his or her State’s popular vote for president in Nov 2024 decisive in certifying an electoral slate in Dec should be defeated on that ground alone.
Awful but true: The GOP frontrunner for Pennsylvania governor has endorsed the idea that presidential electors can be certified in defiance of the popular vote, justified by lies about fraud. He may soon be in a position to execute exactly that scheme: washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

This is a false narrative. When the Electoral College was created, 95% of the nation lived in rural areas. The idea wasn't created with some imaginary fear of "big, scary cities."

The person they hired to chair this study, Jo Boaler, has a vested interest in dismantling algebra. This is a post from a teacher.

I'll post more on this soon. It's inappropriate for a California Mathematics Framework author to sell course material they inserted into the draft. The content is a confused, math-free "data science" curriculum. The author lacks a math degree & has no experience in data science.
1/ The bigger issue is the conflict of interest between @joboaler's work selling books/keynotes/training & her appt as lead author of the CA Math Framework by @SBECalifornia . How is this not a violation of CA Ed Code Sec. 9514? Why is she still selling You Cubed services?

My take on all the single-winner reforms out there, e.g. top x, approval, etc: They have a lot of support from good people who want to make democracy better, and I believe those people will support PR if convinced of its impact and feasibility.

Truth and provability, a thread. Let us compare Tarski's theorem on the nondefinability of truth with Gödel's incompleteness theorem. Smullyan advanced the view that much of the fascination with Gödel's theorem should be better directed toward Tarski's theorem.

recently found out that the voting system used by the UGA math dept in committee meetings — the “modified Ball-Hollingsworth algorithm” — is not a well-known and venerated system, but rather designed by two former UGA math faculty. we are literally the only people who use it.

@MathIntee writes again to tell you that no, really, small states don't control the #ElectoralCollege. Those extra bonus electors corresponding to senators really don't decide elections very often. Key battleground states - big ones - matter more. medium.com/electoral-univers…
