Beyond reducing arrhythmias, can a therapy restore cardiac electrical conduction? MEA electrical mapping provides the answer by directly measuring conduction velocity, activation patterns, and electrical heterogeneity.
Combining MEA electrical mapping and optical mapping enabled high-resolution analysis of conduction, field potentials, and calcium dynamics in 2D/3D tissues.
A new study shows that inherited arrhythmias like CPVT are not driven by cardiomyocytes (CM) alone.
Using hiPSC-derived neuro-cardiac models, the team found dysfunctional sympathetic neurons can trigger #arrhythmia in otherwise healthy CM.

One of the simplest ways to record field potentials and ECG in a Langendorff heart preparation.
Simply apply microelectrode arrays and ECG electrodes directly to the heart.

We are excited to announce the successful installation of our optical mapping system in the laboratory of Prof. Nipavan Chiamvimonvat at the University of Arizona. The system is now fully operational and provides high-resolution, synchronized mapping of cardiac AP and Ca signals.

"I have a very strong belief that we need to keep investing in basic research because of just the nature of science, everything builds on everything else. I think you can't always see the value of something at the time that you're investing in it and working on it."
During our interview with 2025 medicine laureate Mary Brunkow in December, she spoke about the importance of basic research. Stay tuned as her official Nobel Prize interview will be available soon.
Brunkow was awarded the 2025 medicine prize for work concerning peripheral immune tolerance.

Thrilled to share our new preclinical paper: low-dose (nonablative) cardiac radiation reduces VT/VF in NICM — associated with improved ventricular conduction and sympathetic nerve distribution.
Grateful for our stellar team: @alicardsdoc @carmenbergom @drlpedersen @doctorphillep @rentschlerlab and first author Devaki Abhyankar.

The first gene-edited miniature pig model of LQT2 is here.
By combining ECG telemetry, electrical mapping, and optical mapping, this study delivers a truly translational view of hERG-related arrhythmias in a large-animal heart.

In RyR2-R420Q CPVT hearts, subthreshold delayed afterdepolarizations prolonged local repolarization and delayed subsequent activations, increasing ventricular activation dispersion. Optical mapping analyses suggest this mechanism contributes to re-entrant arrhythmia formation.
The optical mapping system was used to record calcium transient. The corresponding isochronal maps generated were further translated into key EP parameters by OMapScope, such asconduction velocity, amplitude, and maximum upstroke velocity.

Cai et. al. (2025) developed a human engineered heart tissue model to mimic lipotoxic diabetic cardiomyopathy and found that empagliflozin effectively protects cardiomyocytes by reducing mitochondrial damage, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and apoptosis.
