Real life isn’t all fun conversations, debates, likes, and followers. There are people beside you who need your time, your attention, and your love.
The people online debating with you or having those everyday “How was your day?” conversations don’t live with you. If they get your laughter, your curiosity, your thoughtful responses, and your undivided attention while your family gets one-word replies and distracted silence, it’s time to reevaluate your priorities.
It hurts to watch a screen get the presence your family keeps asking for. Being in the same room doesn’t mean you’re being present.
Jesus taught us to love one another. That love has to show up in how we treat the people at home, too, in our patience, our conversations, and the attention we freely give them.
Put the phone down. Be present. The people you love shouldn’t have to compete with a screen to feel seen.
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:21

There Is a Future and Hope for the God-Fearing
Faithful souls have a bright future. Even after they die, their work will live on in succeeding generations. The work of faithless souls perishes. Those who quietly, unobtrusively strive to live a God-fearing life are preparing themselves for the kingdom that is not of this world.
“There is no God in heaven or on earth like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.” 2 Chron. 6:14. Notice the expression, “with all their hearts.” God keeps His covenant. He never fails. If we are faithless, He remains faithful. He is a faithful pillar of support and a sure defense for us in all our trials.
“Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways. When you eat the labor of your hands, you shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.” Psalm 128:1-2. Everything goes according to foreordained laws. Just as everything in this world is governed by the laws of nature, so everything in the spiritual world is governed by the laws of the Spirit.
To get as much as possible out of our time here on earth, we must devote our life to the laws of the kingdom of heaven. Blessed is the man who has his delight “in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” Psalm 1:2-3.
We have seen countless examples that prove this is true. Why not choose the very best? Why not bring your life into harmony with the laws of the Spirit? Don’t compare yourself with people who are worse than you, but look to the very best examples you have. “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
Press forward on the narrow way. There is a crown that you can lay hold of, exactly as God has created you—just as you are. You have everything you need to obtain the crown. Let no one take your crown! If others have to do what you should have done, they take your crown. Your negligence will cost you your battle prize.
So don’t give up! Find the works that God has prepared for you, so that you can enter into His rest. Those who work according to God’s directions and according to the laws of the Spirit will certainly reach the goal and enter His rest. This is the reason that these people are so blessed—they who meditate on God’s law so they can battle lawfully, work righteously and hear properly.

Reuben Archer Torrey saw clearly the danger in how liberal theology in his time diminished the Bible. Defending this high view of scripture, the Bible as the true and eternal Word of God, remains as important today as it was then.

We must endure the fellowship of the sufferings of Christ if the power of God is to remain with us; since we are to be conformed to Christ in His death. We know that Christ died in weakness; yet it is precisely in this weakness that the power of God can be manifested.

Can we hate in the Holy Spirit? Yes, with a ruthlessness as strong as death itself. This hatred is not directed against people, but against sin and self-life, and against doctrines that lead people into sin.

“Why can we, as wretched and weak as we are, dare to pray for something so great as overcoming sin, just as Jesus overcame? How can we entertain the thought that something so great as this is possible?
Is it not absurd?
It most certainly would be if in the days of His flesh Christ had not had the same flesh as we do and was thus not tempted as we are.”

Wisdom cannot be obtained without being poor in spirit. You must recognize your need for it. Those who are poor in spirit see their shortcomings and mistakes and allow themselves to be chastened. They are searching for something they do not yet possess. They are dissatisfied with themselves. They have a compelling need for true fulfillment, for truth—for God Himself. Such souls are poor in spirit, and the kingdom of heaven is theirs. They seek God and God seeks them. We also need to search among the people for those who are poor in spirit, because they are like rare pearls.
