Sarcomatoid diff in ccRCC is bad, but not super concordant between primary and matched metastasis. This is a cool figure from @may_alley @katie_berry_MD showing discordance between metastasis (inner circle) and matched primary ccRCC (outer circle) in amount of sarcomatoid differentiation. We know both metastasis and sarcomatoid diff are enriched for subclonal 9p loss, so you might expect more sarcomatoid in the met? but this does not appear to be always the case mdpi.com/2077-0383/15/10/395…

#Tenure! I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to share that I’ve been awarded tenure at @WeillCornell @Cornell I’m deeply grateful to my family, mentors, collaborators, and the many friends and colleagues in the field who have supported me in so many ways over the years. Too many names to list here! Thank you to every single one of you. To the #FaltasLab members and alumni, your creativity, persistence, and teamwork made this possible. You’ve made me better in every way, and it’s a privilege to witness your growth and successes. This truly belongs to all of you. As I reflect on this journey, I’m reminded of the challenges we’ve overcome, and of the profound privilege of being a physician-scientist: caring for patients with #bladdercancer, doing cutting-edge science, and mentoring the next generation of bright minds. The next chapter is about asking bigger questions and building new bridges, between science and medicine, and between people! @WCMEnglanderIPM @WCM_MeyerCancer With passion, persistence, and humility, onward!

CA-125 as a Biomarker in Renal Medullary Carcinoma: Integrated Molecular Profiling, Functional Characterization, and Prospective Clinical Validation out on Clinical Cancer Research aacrjournals.org/clincancerr… This study explores potential biomarkers 🧬for early detection and disease monitoring of renal medullary carcinoma (RMC), a highly aggressive cancer primarily affecting young individuals of African descent with sickle cell trait🔬. Researchers performed integrated profiling of RMC tumor tissues and identified MUC16, the gene encoding cancer antigen 125 (CA-125), as significantly upregulated in RMC. Elevated serum CA-125 levels were observed in 66% of RMC patients and correlated with metastatic tumor burden. Functional studies demonstrated that restoring SMARCB1, a key tumor suppressor lost in RMC, reduced MUC16 expression. These findings suggest that CA-125 could be a valuable biomarker for disease monitoring and treatment targeting in RMC. #KidneyCancer @KyleBlumMD @JPBertok @DurgaNandTripat @JustinLebenthal @rahulshethmd @priyaraomd @LabGenovese @lazcano_rossana @ALazarMDPhD @CCoarfa @PavlosMsaouel @OncoAlert 🚨
