A year ago we had a naive but brilliant idea: Let's make tallow laundry soap. We didn't think of how difficult it would be. The truth is, all of our products up to this point had little strategy behind them. It didn't take long to test and come to an effective result. Laundry detergent was a different animal. In manufacturing it and in testing it. We realized we were dealing with something above our expertise AFTER we had made hundreds of pounds of tallow and coconut soap. Months of making and curing soap, months of halted progress, dozens of iterations with adjusted recipes, and finally, a sprint to produce only 200 boxes ready to go today. What a pain in the butt. This first run will come at a loss. It was a learning lesson we are happy to have taken. We are even happier with the results. Boosted with salts and enzymes, effective and natural, safe for baby clothes and workout gear, lifts stains and odors, blood and sweat. Sol Suds is now available.

We took our signature, hand-harvested Fleur de Sel, the delicate crystals that bloom on the surface of our protected ancient spring beds in Spain, and blended them with real ingredients to create our brand new Infused Spring Salts. 🎉 Meet the lineup: 🍋 Lemon Fleur de Sel: Sun-ripened lemon zest for a bright citrus finish. 👉 Best on: Summer tomatoes, burrata, grilled fish, and asparagus. 🧄 Garlic Fleur de Sel: Real granulated garlic for a warm, rich, savory depth. 👉 Best on: Roasted potatoes, buttered pasta, warm crusty bread, steak, and eggs. 🍄 Black Truffle Fleur de Sel: Real dried black summer truffle for a deep, earthy, low-effort luxury. 👉 Best on: Soft scrambled eggs, hot fries, risotto, popcorn, and steak (always finish off the heat). Always real food ingredients, zero anti-caking agents, and third-party tested microplastic-free salt packed in 100% glass.

Socially Programmed Male Mediocrity I had a conversation with a young man - a fitness trainer - in the sauna this evening about how he didn't want to begin posting social media content for the wrong reasons. He was analysing himself into paralysis because he didn't want to accidentally do it for an egoic reason of achieving followers or whatever. It is his long term vision to share good information, help people be healthier and so forth, so social media is part of that path. I know this kid, and he's absolutely not that egoic type of personality, but he was so worried about not being egoic that he had just not taken any action so far. It's a very common analysis-paralysis issue. The reason that your brain will tell you that you're not acting can be different, but it raised in me this other issue which I think is prevalent in today's society. It's one that young men who want to achieve and become successful are browbeaten down into not wanting that, or making themselves think that there is something wrong with them for wanting to achieve, for wanting renown or fame or success. I think that's terrible - and I don't think that it is good for them or society. Obviously, you don't want to pursue vain metrics for reasons of self-worship, but as I said, this kid has his head screwed on right, he’s not like that at all. He's more so, in my opinion, playing to the broader societal perception which is that it's evil for a young man to want success and to want to win, because that may be at the expense of others or it may be putting their head above the masses to rise or strive for something. And if that's your dominant culture, then your society is doomed. That is the case where I am in Australia, and this sauna interaction is a microcosm of the larger, broader picture. As I said, it inspired in me to share these thoughts because if you are a young man with desires to achieve, to be greater, to rise above the crowd, then you should not let that diminish in you and never feel bad about that. The progress of society that raises everyone up is built on the achievements of men who dare to go higher and who don't care what the crowd is doing. They will achieve and be competitive and use their ego to motivate themselves to do these things, and it’s perfectly natural and good to do so.

I’m just going to say that a lot of “lifting made me bulky” propaganda is people just becoming fat. Like no, you did not gain 30 pounds of muscle in your 4 months of lifting. You started eating a lot because lifting makes you hungry LOL.
Being a gym girl and putting on a considerable amount of muscle will inevitably make you look less feminine. You’re literally training in the same way MEN do. Being afraid of lifting weights because it will make you look “bulky” is a valid fear.

Very common fitness L (especially w/ women) is when people see 700 cals burned from their HIIT class & only 120 cals burned from their weight lifting session so they opt for HIIT over lifting & initially see good results (via fat loss) but they never build any significant muscle mass so they end up skinny fat & exhausted & spinning their wheels in endless HIIT classes
The number of calories you burn during a WEIGHT TRAINING session is not important. The point of weight training is to build muscle and get stronger. Lifting weights (with enough effort) has both short AND long term influence on your metabolism--your apple watch can't count that.

Can a young brand vent real quick? Everyone else is full of sh*t. When we started this company a little over two years ago the competition was scarce and it was fairly easy to stand out, especially when it came to shampoo. Since we released our all original raw honey shampoo a couple weeks short of two years ago, we’ve watched plenty of others come and go. Some did their best to copy our formulas or the writing on our website, while others are actually doing their own thing (and good for those few genuinely trying to innovate, we love that). But something has changed, these other random brands seem to have realized nothing is stopping them from saying anything necessary to make sales, even if that means outright lying. “10 years of hair loss gone in five days!” Does anyone actually believe that? We’re almost scared to know the answer. Another example I saw just the other day: this brand claimed “zero hormone disruptors” in the exact same paragraph that they claim their product blocks DHT. Does anything illustrate these idiot’s lack of knowledge better than that? Do they even realize what they just said? Unfortunately, we see this kind of stuff all the time. It is rapidly reaching a point that false advertising is something that just comes with the territory. Something we as consumers have to train ourselves to see through in order to stand a chance. Our primary concern is pretty simple… Where is the dignity with these brands? Where is the pride in what they’re making? They have none. They have none because deep down they know they’ve copied or outright stolen everything they “produce”. Half the time they’re not even doing their own production, they’re just putting their own label on a bottle of someone else’s stuff. There is a reason we don’t claim our products can cure baldness, seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, or bring about the second coming: We’d be lying. We’d be lying because we realize these types of issues are rooted much deeper than the external. We sell products to topically assist in addressing these issues, but for us to claim that applying them to the hair & scalp will reverse a lifetime of something like poor gut health would make us sleazy, slimy liars. The truth is, the people that achieve wonderful results using our products use them in combination with many other things. Red light, exercise, sun exposure, gut microbiome health etc. We hope the fact that we refuse to make claims we aren’t absolutely certain we can back up means something to some people. Because at the end of the day there is a very simple reason nobody does it like we do: They’re all full of sh*t.

It’s funny, we have an interesting problem People aren’t afraid of chemicals with a familiar name: alcohol, peroxide But are afraid of things that are unfamiliar and hard to pronounce: hydroxyapatite, xylitol Chemical names very rarely tell us much about their safety profile. I’d estimate about 10% of people can’t get out of their own way with this belief framework.
Replying to @theNOBSdentist
What percent of people are nervous about “chemicals” when it’s just a long word for something already in your teeth?

Update from Modena Italy + Spoiler Alert (long post incoming) The next product for Oliva Dorado will be... A balsamic vinegar. I have been asked for this product more than anything else, for good reason. Every great olive oil needs a great balsamic vinegar. I was deciding whether or not I wanted to share some of the process or wait until it's ready... and I decided I'm fully going to show the behind-the-scenes of me sourcing the best vinegar in the world. Similar to my olive oil, I want to find the best tasting and highest quality balsamic vinegar I can find in the entire world and offer that to you guys with the click of a few buttons. As someone who grew up not liking vinegar and knew nothing about the industry, I have completely gone down the rabbit hole the last few months to learn everything possible. Also similar to olive oil, there are a lot of problems with mass-produced conventional vinegar, with blends from multiple farms, added ingredients (typically caramel and sugars), and non organic grapes sprayed with pesticides and chemical fertilizers. When deciding where I wanted to source the best balsamic vinegar from, there was no better place to start than the balsvinegar capital of the world: Modena, Italy. Here in Modena, there are several farms that have been producing vinegar of the highest quality for hundreds of years, still owned by the same familes. Just like my olive oil, I want to partner with a family owned farm to bring Oliva Dorado Vinegar to the U.S., focusing on the quality and story behind the product: - Organic - Everything done on site, including growing the grapes and creating the vingear, without outsourcing any part of the process - No added ingredients - No blends - Certified DOP or IGP, which are the most important certifications offered to vinegar producers, with an important distinction being that the grapes and vinegar must be made in Modena, Italy, which is believed to have the best microclimate in the world for creating vinegar I recently arrived to Modena where I will be living for 2 weeks while meeting with different vinegar producers every day Stay tuned...
