Great dinner at Vanman’s last night. Grass-fed smash burgers & tallow fries, Strauss shakes, house made orange soda, dim lighting, tweets on the walls. So cool to see! A must visit if you’re in San Diego 🌴 Very well done! @Man_with_a_van

The age of pop ups on websites must come to an end. Immediately interrupting the shopping experience with your plea for my email comes off as desperate & gimmicky. At least allow me to take in your website for a moment before trying to close the sale.
Better alternatives:
Scroll-in newsletter signups are a great way to go, embedded within your website pages. If you Must have a pop up, make it delayed by several minutes so it only appears as a small box in the bottom corner showing your discount offer.
However, for brand owners: you don’t Have to offer a welcome discount just because most brands do. Ask yourself if it truly aligns with your brand. Welcome offers optimize for price shoppers.
For a shopper like myself, a spin the wheel pop up is one of the fastest ways to immediately ruin a brand’s reputation.
I will usually leave websites if I see this.
This used to only be found on shameless gimmicky websites like temu. Now we have “luxury” brands hitting you with it.
I am not exaggerating when I say that I take it as an insult to my intelligence as a consumer.
It must end we don’t want it
My experience buying a new duvet cover yesterday:
Go to website
Immediate spin the wheel pop up
Close pop up
Cookies pop up
Close pop up
Maneuver to what I want
Add to cart
Pop up: save $40?
Okay
Put in email
Put in phone number
Welcome email
Discount email
Go to discount email
Save $40 but only through their app
Download app
Must make a username & password
Must verify my email with a code
Get email with the code
Enter code
Now I’m in the app
Cart is empty
Need to go re-add all items to my cart
Turns out there’s an order value threshold for the discount
I’m $6 short of threshold
Have to add $30 more to my cart
Irritated but I’m in this deep
Order complete

Why must we live this way.
Black truffle, garlic, & lemon infused salt I am so excited to try these. @VeraSaltCo knocked it out of the park again.
No ‘natural flavor”, real dehydrated truffle, garlic, & lemon zest let’s go!

A year ago we had a naive but brilliant idea:
Let's make tallow laundry soap.
We didn't think of how difficult it would be. The truth is, all of our products up to this point had little strategy behind them. It didn't take long to test and come to an effective result.
Laundry detergent was a different animal. In manufacturing it and in testing it. We realized we were dealing with something above our expertise AFTER we had made hundreds of pounds of tallow and coconut soap.
Months of making and curing soap, months of halted progress, dozens of iterations with adjusted recipes, and finally, a sprint to produce only 200 boxes ready to go today.
What a pain in the butt. This first run will come at a loss. It was a learning lesson we are happy to have taken. We are even happier with the results.
Boosted with salts and enzymes, effective and natural, safe for baby clothes and workout gear, lifts stains and odors, blood and sweat.

We took our signature, hand-harvested Fleur de Sel, the delicate crystals that bloom on the surface of our protected ancient spring beds in Spain, and blended them with real ingredients to create our brand new
Infused Spring Salts. 🎉
Meet the lineup:
🍋 Lemon Fleur de Sel: Sun-ripened lemon zest for a bright citrus finish.
👉 Best on: Summer tomatoes, burrata, grilled fish, and asparagus.
🧄 Garlic Fleur de Sel: Real granulated garlic for a warm, rich, savory depth.
👉 Best on: Roasted potatoes, buttered pasta, warm crusty bread, steak, and eggs.
🍄 Black Truffle Fleur de Sel: Real dried black summer truffle for a deep, earthy, low-effort luxury.
👉 Best on: Soft scrambled eggs, hot fries, risotto, popcorn, and steak (always finish off the heat).
Always real food ingredients, zero anti-caking agents, and third-party tested microplastic-free salt packed in 100% glass.

We’ve hit several new milestones in the last few months which has been exciting as we come up on 3 years in business.
This wonderful business could not have been possible without this account & I am sincerely so grateful to all who have followed along this entire time. 🩵
As a girl who always had extremely low muscle mass I can tell you lifting weights will make your life exponentially better in so many ways that you wouldn’t expect for example now I can lift my kitchen aid mixer without struggling so much
Lift weights!

Socially Programmed Male Mediocrity
I had a conversation with a young man - a fitness trainer - in the sauna this evening about how he didn't want to begin posting social media content for the wrong reasons.
He was analysing himself into paralysis because he didn't want to accidentally do it for an egoic reason of achieving followers or whatever.
It is his long term vision to share good information, help people be healthier and so forth, so social media is part of that path.
I know this kid, and he's absolutely not that egoic type of personality, but he was so worried about not being egoic that he had just not taken any action so far. It's a very common analysis-paralysis issue.
The reason that your brain will tell you that you're not acting can be different, but it raised in me this other issue which I think is prevalent in today's society.
It's one that young men who want to achieve and become successful are browbeaten down into not wanting that, or making themselves think that there is something wrong with them for wanting to achieve, for wanting renown or fame or success.
I think that's terrible - and I don't think that it is good for them or society. Obviously, you don't want to pursue vain metrics for reasons of self-worship, but as I said, this kid has his head screwed on right, he’s not like that at all.
He's more so, in my opinion, playing to the broader societal perception which is that it's evil for a young man to want success and to want to win, because that may be at the expense of others or it may be putting their head above the masses to rise or strive for something. And if that's your dominant culture, then your society is doomed. That is the case where I am in Australia, and this sauna interaction is a microcosm of the larger, broader picture.
As I said, it inspired in me to share these thoughts because if you are a young man with desires to achieve, to be greater, to rise above the crowd, then you should not let that diminish in you and never feel bad about that.
The progress of society that raises everyone up is built on the achievements of men who dare to go higher and who don't care what the crowd is doing.
They will achieve and be competitive and use their ego to motivate themselves to do these things, and it’s perfectly natural and good to do so.
