Today, the JLOS Secretariat hosted a team from @CEDOVIP (Center for Domestic Violence Prevention) for a fruitful deliberation.
The visiting team comprised of:
🔹Akol Florence – Program Consultant, Institutional Strengthening
🔹Peninah Susan Igaga – Programs Manager
🔹Josephine Kamuya – Manager / E.D
Discussions focused on CEDOVIP’s programming tailored towards strengthening the provision of survivor-centred services through support to capacity building and strengthening coordination, especially through their legal literacy programmes.
The team shared some of the IEC materials they have developed. The Secretariat provided input on updating the materials to include the duty of citizens beyond reporting – a key gap informing case attrition, especially for GBV cases. Both parties agreed to jointly work on the amendments and the Secretariat proposed that CEDOVIP consider developing similar materials for Local Council (LC) leaders.
It was also agreed that the Secretariat will attend and facilitate as presenters at CEDOVIP trainings when called upon. A copy of the Juvenile Justice Process Flow was shared to inform their IEC development.
The meeting was hosted by Ms. @LucyLadira, the Technical Advisor on Criminal Justice at the JLOS Secretariat.
We look forward to deepening this collaboration to enhance access to justice.

VIDEO: How Modern-Day Parenting Can Contribute to the Violation of Children's Rights
Modern-day parenting practices, when misapplied, can expose children to various forms of abuse and rights violations. From excessive punishment and emotional neglect to digital exploitation, harmful discipline, and the denial of children's voices, some parenting approaches can leave children vulnerable to harm, both at home and in society.
How can parents and caregivers strike a balance between discipline and protecting children's rights? What can be done to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment?
Join the conversation as we explore how parenting practices can either protect children or put them at risk of abuse and exploitation.

“We are here today because we want to take a systematic approach. Intellectual Property is not an end in itself; it is a tool to improve people’s lives and uplift our communities.
We do not want Africa to remain a net consumer of intellectual property. We want to see Africa become stronger owners, creators, and exporters of IP.”

Crime prevention is not the responsibility of law enforcement alone.
When a young person has no access to education, no job and little support, the streets can become an easy path into crime. Uganda Youth Development Link (@UYDEL) works to change that reality by providing vulnerable young people with counselling, vocational skills and opportunities to rebuild their lives.
At the recent 15th #CrimeCongress, Uganda showcased how civil society organisations are an important part of Uganda’s JLOS chain-linked approach, helping address the vulnerabilities that can lead to crime and giving young people a chance to choose a different path.

Behind financial transactions, criminals may be hiding the proceeds of corruption, fraud, terrorism and human trafficking. Following the money is one way to expose these crimes and hold offenders accountable.
Financial Intelligence Authority @ThefiaU analyses financial information, identifies suspicious transactions and shares financial intelligence with relevant authorities to support investigations and prosecutions.
At the recent 15th #CrimeCongress, FIA showcased how, technology and collaboration play an increasingly important role to help trace illicit funds, disrupt criminal networks and make it harder for criminals to profit from their activities.
Fighting crime also means following the money.

Every prosecution carries a responsibility to uphold the law and serve the public interest.
@ODPPUGANDA plays a central role in Uganda’s criminal justice system, working with investigators, guiding prosecutions and ensuring that cases are handled in accordance with the law. At the recent 15th #CrimeCongress, the ODPP showcased their role in Uganda's criminal justice process, which strengthens accountability and supports the delivery of justice to all Ugandans. #UgandaAtCrimeCongress

How does a complaint made at a police post in Rwahi village translate into justice delivered? It takes a system that works together. Uganda’s JLOS chain-linked approach brings together the police, prosecutors, courts and prisons to plan, coordinate and deliver justice as one system.
As crime evolves, the justice system must adapt. By breaking institutional silos and strengthening collaboration, JLOS is improving coordination, speeding up the administration of justice and expanding access to justice for Ugandans. This was the crux of Uganda's participation in the 15th #CrimeCongress
