At the India AI Impact Summit this week, iSPIRT is bringing a clear thesis: we believe the answer to concentration is ecosystem infrastructure. Open, interoperable, sovereign by design. The same institutional imagination that produced India’s DPI ecosystem will define whether AI serves everyone or only a few.
These ideas will find space across the summit this week. At the Fairfax Centre for Free Enterprise, in a session co-hosted by iSPIRT on what a DPI for AI could look like; At the RUSH Indo-French academic meetings at AIIMS, on child safety and frontier research in privacy preserving technologies; At IGPP; And in several bilateral and multilateral meetings where these frameworks are being discussed with partners from France, Brazil, Japan, and beyond.

For the first time, monthly disbursements through the OCEN protocol have breached the ₹200 Crore mark, proving that the shift toward cash flow-based lending is not just a pilot—it is a powerhouse!!!
As we move toward the close of 2025, the narrative is shifting from "how much" can be lent to "how well" it is being managed.

Built on the principles of India Stack, this digital protocol is not just facilitating loans; it is fundamentally rewiring the architecture of MSME credit, making it instant, affordable, and accessible. The monthly growth witnessed in the calendar year 2025 proves the model is not just viable, but highly scalable, marking a new era of financial inclusion.

Read our latest blog to understand more on how respecting consent can also fuel innovation!
pn.ispirt.in/privacy-in-the-…
The concept of consent predates the digital era — it began in a paper-based world, where signatures and written permissions authorized the use of personal information.
Today, there are two kinds:
•Consent to collect data (e.g., an app accessing your camera)
•Consent to share data (e.g., a bank sharing your salary details with a lender)
The real challenges – and opportunities – lie in the second.

My friend Sridhar Vembu @svembu and his team at Zoho have been at the forefront of building world class products in India, a mission close to iSPIRIT's heart.
We will work together to make Arattai like a DPI.
The foundational tech is already there.
We are looking at:
- Having many front-ends.
- Plus Privacy. Portability. Plug-and-play for new innovation.
In the new innovation category, there will be payments for sure. We have to also consider AI Agents - though not sure how that will fit in.
We also want to address the needs of Global South policymakers for transparency, localisation and digital sovereignty.

Techno-legalism is not monolithic - it is a design philosophy. This allows us to develop a suite of tools, confidential clean rooms, immutable logs, consent artefacts, each a distinct manifestation of the same core principle.

The 5 Sutra (guiding principles) Digital Public Infrastructure should be evaluated/based on:
1. Citizen’s Agency & Privacy
2. Interoperability
3. Techno-Legal Regulation
4. Bypassing Corporation & Private Monopoly
5. Safeguarding Against Weaponization
