OCEN's quarterly performance reflects growing momentum. Loan disbursements have increased from 5,641 loans worth ₹197.95 crore in Q1 2025 to 41,712 loans worth ₹1,401.91 crore in Q3 2026.
OCEN is not a lender; it is an ecosystem builder.
The next chapter of MSME finance will be built through collaboration. OCEN provides the rails; lenders, LSPs and technology partners can turn them into meaningful credit access for millions of businesses.

Every era of AI has been shaped by what it learns from. The next era will learn from real-world outcomes. Outcomes that are longitudinal, spread across institutions, and live. What happened to the patient, the loan, the crop, over years and across institutions. Institutions hold those outcomes today, and AI working inside hospitals and banks will generate more. India should set the rules for how models learn from both. @neelkanthmishra highlights how India’s #DEPA offers a remarkable response to do this. xitter.cf/ANI/status/21081060799…

The Export Declaration Form (EDF) backlash is a symptom of a bigger problem: regulatory silos.
RBI regulates under FEMA. GST under GST law. Banks operate under their own systems.
The answer is not less regulation. It is connected regulation:
One transaction → One digital declaration → Multiple authorised government regulators and departments.
The EDF can become the starting point for a Digital EDF that connects RBI, GST, banks, and other relevant systems.
Whole-of-government must begin when regulation is designed—not after the regulation is issued.

Manufacturing was the 1st step. India is already building Foxconn-type companies, and 99% of phones Indians use are already made in India. @getpeid's CMF spin-out is step 2: own the R&D, not the badge.
At iSPIRT and in our Vishvamitra initiative, for many years we have highlighted the importance of IP ownership over manufacturing. In the modern Product development process, manufacturing comes at the tail end of the process, as @tarunmehta has also
highlighted many times. The Government should assume this as the default while making the policy.

From Digital Identity to Digital Trust.
As India moves toward DPI 2.0, IDIF explores a decentralised trust layer built around verifiable credentials, selective disclosure, cryptographic proofs and cross-border interoperability — with less dependence on central databases and APIs.
A key building block for the next generation of DPI.

In 2023, @RajivKumar1, @svembu and @sharads signed an open letter "India and AI: Need for Urgent National and International Debate."
This week @DarioAmodei published "We Must Pace the Frontier." Altman and Musk agreed within hours.
The debate has arrived.
Our 2023 concern was precise: technological progress is inexorable and largely beneficial — but *adopting* AI without essential due diligence and appropriate safeguards can disrupt the social order at scale.
Note the verb. Adopting. That is deployment.
That distinction still matters.
The labs are converging on pacing *development* — slower capability gains, evaluated by parties they invite in themselves.
Useful. Insufficient. And conveniently, the one lever that costs everyone outside the frontier labs the most.
The sharper risk isn't only how fast capability is built. It's how little stands between a training run and a billion users. That gap is now weeks.
Independent oversight belongs precisely there — between frontier development and deployment.
And oversight cannot rest on a pledge. Pledges are revocable and self-scored.
It has to be enforceable in architecture: verifiable evaluation, auditable AI chains, accredited actors, technical guarantees.
India has been building exactly this. Techno-legal, not just legal.
Last point. Three CEOs agreeing on a Saturday afternoon is not global governance.
Most of the world's AI users live outside the countries drafting these rules. India and the global majority have to be in the room — not briefed afterwards.
Our 2023 letter is here. It reads better today than we would have liked.

We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

I’m deeply shocked and saddened by the passing of Khadim Batti, Co-founder of Whatfix, earlier today.
I'm truly struggling to find the right words while processing this news.
Khadim has been such an important part of our AIBoomi community and of the larger SaaS and AI ecosystem in India. Someone many of us have known over the years, shared rooms and conversations with, learnt from, and deeply respected.
His journey with Whatfix inspired so many founders in this community. But beyond everything he built, I will remember Khadim for the person he was.
A wonderful friend. A generous mentor. Someone who always made time for the ecosystem and showed up for founders with warmth and sincerity.
We have lost someone very special today.
My heart goes out to his family, the entire Whatfix team, and everyone who was close to him.
Rest in peace, Khadim. You will be deeply missed.

India needs to focus on building ecosystems, not just companies.
In China, Xiaomi can produce a world-class EV from scratch in 18 months due to the thriving ecosystem of EV manufacturing.
In AI also, China is focusing on ecosystems and winning over American AI.
For India to become an economic Vishwaguru, building ecosystems is key.

This is a message from one of teachers of Indian students, who won gold at Physics Olympiad.
I taught JEE physics for years. That paper breaks strong kids in three hours. This exam (International Physics Olympiad) is five hours of theory and five hours of lab work,* and these five did close to perfect scores on it.
The "International Physics Olympiad" is the world championship of school physics. It was the 56th edition, held in Bucaramanga, Colombia, from July 5 to 12. 381 students from more than 85 countries.* Every one of them the best physics student, btheir country could find.bIndia sent five kids.
All five came back with gold.
Their names are Kanishk Jain from Pune, Riddhesh Anant Bendale from Indore, Rishit Garg from Dwarka (in Delhi), Shresth Suraiya from Mumbai and Svarit Joshi from Ahmedabad.
That clean sweep put India at "Joint World Number One", tied with China, Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea and Taiwan. Those are countries that pour serious money and national pride into science education. We are standing level with them.
Now here is what the exam actually was - two papers each, five hours long. The theory paper had three problems.
(i) One on the thermodynamics of para-magnetic cooling.
(ii) One on the
photoionisation of ozone.
(iii) One on the dynamics of electron positron pairs.
The experimental paper was another five hours in a lab, working through heat transfer and thermodynamic processes in fluids.
That means you get given equipment you have never seen and you have to design your own experiment, take your own readings, handle the errors and reach a real answer - nomultiple choice, no shortcuts, no pattern recognition.
You either understand physics or you sit there for five hours. HBCSE says the Indian students were near perfect on theory and excellent on the practical too. Now, this was India's 27th appearance at the IPhO. Across all those years, about 44 percent of Indian students have won gold, 41 percent silver, 10 percent bronze.
In the last ten years, every single Indian student has come home with a medal - 62 percent gold, 38 percent silver. Not one kid has gone and come back empty handed in a decade.*
Five golds in one year has happened only twice. This year and in 2018. So who built this? The programme is run by (HBCSE), the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education under (TIFR) Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, which sits under the Department of Atomic Energy.
They run the whole funnel - a national exam, then a national Olympiad, then a brutal selection and training camp and out of everyone in the country, five kids get on a plane. The team was *led by Professor Anwesh Mazumdar of HBCSE-TIFR and Dr Leena Joshi from St Xavier's College, Mumbai.
The scientific observers were Professor Ananda Dasgupta from IISER Kolkata and Nisha Kelkar from Gogate-Joglekar College in Ratnagiri. Yes, Ratnagiri, a college in a coastal town in Maharashtra. This is public education doing something the private coaching industry could never do on its own.
An olympiad paper does not have a known type. There is *no shortcut chapter. There is no formula sheet that saves you. You have to sit with a problem you have never seen and think. That is a completely different muscle.
And a government funded centre has been quietly building it in Indian teenagers for 27 years. So yes, be proud. Loudly, HBCSE also shared that around 64 percent of India's olympiad medallists go on to do a Ph.D. But only about 32 percent of medallists end up settling in India.
I do not say that to spoil the moment. These kids owe the country nothing. They earned every option they have. But it should tell us something.
- We are excellent at finding this talent.
- We are excellent at training it.
- We are still not great at giving it somewhere worth staying.
Congratulations, Kanishk, Riddhesh, Rishit, Shresth and Svarit. This is one of the best things an Indian did this year and most of the country will never hear about it.

Replying to @AnandaramSanjay
@AnandaramSanjay writes for @natstrat_org on the importance of strategic persuasion for India.
Strategic Persuasion is about pragmatic economic statecraft that advances a country’s strategic interests internationally in a non hegemonic manner. “India, as a four-trillion-dollar economy with aspirations to become a developed country by 2047, cannot be reactive or merely respond to the fast-changing global situation. It needs to strategically persuade others while setting the agenda in areas it has pioneered globally, such as Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI)..”
Through MOSIP - the world’s largest deployment of DPIs for countries, India has already shown prowess in this endeavour. By making our DPIs our arrowheads, we should continue on the path of strategic persuasion.

How does India avoid the trap of “Digital Colonisation” and overcome geopolitics in cross-border trade?
We need to break the silos in trade.
Intuitively, what is digital must ultimately be governed through digital means. Cross-border trade governance can no longer remain trapped in regulatory silos in the data-driven Al era.
Hence we need to use our prowess in DPI, connect all trade administration systems in to one single DPI driven framework, that removes Silos and provide both an ease of business as well as empower smart policy making on trade to get best out of our cross border trade.
