25 years ago, at the age of 42, my doc informed me I was at high risk of developing a heart attack.
My TG/HDL ratio was 25 (trigs at 800/ HDL at 32)! I was overweight and low on energy. My doc urged me to go on a statin. Here I am now, 25 years later after playing 2 hours of racquetball, and 30 pounds lower - and fortunately I refused to take the statins or any other meds.
What saved me was that I learned about #LCHF to improve my TG/HDL. Very glad I can share what I've learned about #LCHF and LDL fears at conferences, with the latest one this past week at cosci.org

BREAKING: @BudoffMd has now presented the matched analysis for:
KETO (#LMHRstudy) vs Control (#MiHeart)
-🙏Please RT🙏-
METHODS – 80 Participants of #LMHRstudy fell within #MiHeart age range and were then matched 1:1 for age, gender, race, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and past smoking to asymptomatic subjects from the #MiHeart cohort.
PRIMARY ANALYSIS – High resolution heart scans (#CCTA) allowing for primary analysis of Total Plaque Score (TPS), Total Stenosis Score (TSS) and Segment Involvement Score (SIS)
RESULTS
The matched mean age was 55.5 years, with mean #LDL cholesterol of 272 mg/dL (max LDL-C 591) mg/dl and mean 4.7 years duration on a ketogenic diet.
🚨 There was no significant difference in coronary plaque burden of #LMHRstudy (mean LDL-C 272) cohort as compared to #MiHeart controls (mean LDL 123 mg/dl); nb: pre-KETO LDL-C in KETO group was 122 mg/dl
🚨 There was no significant difference in CAC (median and IQR) [0 (0,56)] versus [1 (0, 49)], p = 0.520
🚨 No relationship of LDL-C elevations and plaque
⚠️ This analysis is on baseline scans and the study is still ongoing for second CCTA completion in our cohort by February of 2024. And as always, please continue to work with your doctor.
- I will have my own video reaction and thoughts in the coming hours.
🙏🙏🙏 to everyone -- and I mean everyone -- who helped us get to this pivotal milestone. 🙏🙏🙏

In the past several years, editors have been sending manuscripts on diet and heart disease to me as a part of the peer-review process. I've been honored to be seen as an expert worthy of providing input to editors as to whether a manuscript deserves to be published.
The below text in bold/italics is a subset of a review I wrote recently in which I evaluated a manuscript written by authors who promoted the DASH diet and were critical of low carb diets and red meat consumption, and they promoted the perspective that high LDL causes CVD.
I've removed any mention of the authors' names, as well as the journal identifier. The essence of my review (below) may be of value for those who wonder about misinformation on LDL, heart disease and diet.
My review:
"The idea that the first stage of atherosclerosis is the accumulation of LDL-C is not supported by a broader assessment of the literature. If high LDL-C simply gains access to the artery wall, thereby choking off the artery and causing premature CVD death, then all people with high LDL-C should die prematurely of CVD. Whether one reads the older [1] or recent [2] literature, one finds that people with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) have a normal lifespan. Indeed, after 70 years of age, people with FH have a lower rate of CVD events and mortality than the general population [2].
Smokers and hypertensives have a far higher rate of events than healthy FH people, so a vulnerability factor must precede LDL accumulation in the artery wall to increase CVD events and mortality. Population studies also demonstrate that people with the highest LDL live as long, or even longer, than people with lower LDL [3]. The fact that diabetics with uncontrolled elevated blood glucose have an extremely high rate of CVD, independent of LDL, points to blood sugar-induced damage to the endothelium as a prime candidate for CVD vulnerability. Finally, careful analysis of the FH literature demonstrates that the subset of FH individuals that develop premature CVD are those with evidence of hypercoagulation (which can be triggered by high blood sugar), independent of their LDL [4,5].
The flawed epidemiological literature and recent promotion of plant-based diets has ignored the extensive literature demonstrating that a meat and high carb diet is unhealthy, but red meat, alone, has not been shown to be associated with CVD risk. Research critical of the view that red meat is harmful has been summarized here [6,7].
An important component of the DASH diet is the restriction of sugar, which thereby makes an important component of the DASH diet overlap with the LCD. The obvious flaw with the DASH diet is the control group. Has the DASH diet ever been studied with a comparison diet that solely restricts carb consumption. If not, how can the other components of the DASH diet be considered important when it may be solely the sugar restriction that provides the benefits of the DASH diet?
The authors may not be familiar with the LCD literature which may explain why they have misrepresented it. The idea that up to 45% of calories from carbs can be considered a low carb diet is incorrect and has been promoted by authors who are critical of the diet. A low carb diet that has been studied in numerous RCTs is one in which carbs are typically less than 10% of the calories [8,9].
Benefits of LCDs were described in the 19th century as a treatment for type 2 diabetes and obesity. This literature was reviewed in the mid-20th century by Pennington [10], and in JAMA [11] and then popularized by Atkins in 1972. Since then, there have been dozens of LCD RCTs [e.g., 8,9] In 2015, a large group of scholars reviewed the LCD literature and concluded the LCD was the ideal first approach to the treatment of type 2 diabetes [12], which of course, is a condition that is associated with a high risk of CVD.
The warning against consuming red meat is an anachronism based solely on biased epidemiological work that has not been supported by rigorous analyses [6,7].

⚠️ Graphic Details Warning ⚠️
Sarah Ann Rairdon, age 13, was reported missing on May 20, 1985, from Underwood, MN. Her parents divorced when she was three years old and her father was awarded custody of Sarah and her four siblings. Her father remarried in 1975 and his wife, Marilyn, had four children from a previous marriage. The couple had two children together.
The day she disappeared, she had stayed late at school. She reportedly turned down a ride home because her father was going to pick her up. He never arrived and she began walking home on what is known as "Whiskey Road," approximately four miles from house. She was never heard from again. She reported missing the same day.
Underwood had a population of approximately 300 people and the community rallied behind the family.
Sarah's father, step mother and siblings together with members of the community searched for her. Flyers with her photo were posted everywhere. Her face was one of the first to be put on milk cartons. Her story was in the news locally and throughout the country.
Her remains were discovered on July 6, 1985, on the bank of a dry creek. A hole was still visible in her shirt and her abdomem. Authorities believed she had been stabbed.
Law enforcement initially suspected her step brother was involved. Her father informed authorities he had assisted a local farmer repair a fire several miles away from Whiskey Road. But, upon further investigation, he was much closer lto the area where she disappeared.
Her father admitted that he had picked her up while she was walking home. He admitted to sexually abusing Sarah, but denied killing her. The abuse began when she was six years old and continued until she was murdered. On the day before she disappeared, he abused her again. However, on the day she disappeared she refused and threatened to tell people.
Her father was arrested shortly after her body was discovered.
On August 14, 1985, a criminal complaint was drafted charging Rairdon with murder and intrafamilial sexual abuse. Rairdon was served in his jail cell and he admitted his wife and step son were not involved with her murder.
He was convicted in 1986 and sentenced life in prison. He has been denied parole. Later, her step mother was indicted for knowing he was sexually abused Sarah and for not reporting the abuse. She divorced John and was remarried within months after he was charged. I am unable to find information regarding what happened to her in case.
💥 Today, states are passing laws so teachers and counselors are unable to discuss anything related to sex. Other states have gone further passed laws that force children to give birth with eithereno exceptions or within six weeks. In Sarah's case, she had planned to tell an adult but was murdered before she was able to.
If family is aware and laws prevent young children from telling someone they trust, how are we as a society able to protect our children? Schools are mandated reporters.
⭐ I remember this story. It was my first "stranger danger" talk. However, in this case, the perpetrator was family. Her story still resonates with me and I think of her with each inhumane law passed. We must do better as a society. Her murder took away so many young girls security.

Chompers - I agree everyone should watch this talk. Do you see any mention of the outstanding work of clinicians who are recommending dietary changes to their patients that improve all primary risk factors of CVD and reduce their dependence on medications? Clinicians such as @lowcarbGP @drericwestman @KenDBerryMD @DoctorTro @DrPaulMason @ifixhearts @SBakerMD @drozcanyucel @DiljanMansoor @DrAseemMalhotra @shashiiyengar and many others who recognize that foods that raise blood sugar (as well as seed oils) are the ultimate causes of the diseases of western society.
Instead, this is a summary of the obsession with cholesterol as a false cause of heart disease, one that only promotes medications to reduce LDL, with little accomplished other than to fill the coffers of the pharmaceutical industry.
Their goal is world domination of promoting cholesterol fears, one that will ultimately distract people from becoming educated on the real dietary causes of diseases.

BREAKING: Donald Trump unleashes a deranged Truth Social post in a desperate attempt to explain his multiplying indictments, saying that they "didn't come down from heaven" before offering a truly pathetic explanation.
According to the disgraced ex-president, the real reason he's being indicted is because the "most corrupt President in the history of the United States, Crooked Joe Biden" sent the indictments because he wants to "Rig & Steal another Election."
Of course, Joe Biden has never stolen an election. He won the 2020 election fairly and legitimately, as virtually every court has said.
Furthermore, Joe Biden did not order the indictments. Unlike Trump, he respects the independent nature of the Justice Department and has not interfered in the investigations. Trump has been indicted because he broke the law.
"They shouldn’t even be allowed to go forward," Trump said of the indictments, sounding very much like a man who has run out of ways to save himself.
Unfortunately for Donald, the indictments will be going forward and soon we will have even more. He's going to be buried beneath so many charges that he'll never see the light of day again.
Good riddance.
Please retweet and ❤️ if you support the Trump indictments — and consider joining the growing exodus to Tribel, a “woke” new Twitter competitor that banned Trump for life and is exploding in popularity because Elon Musk banned Tribel’s Twitter account — but he forgot to ban this link to download the new Tribel app: tribel.app.link/okwPIHYCIqb

Speech in service of a crime is not protected speech. You cannot pressure state officials to throw out ballots or to find you 11,780 new ones, and you can't create fraudulent electors to be counted instead of the real ones. And you can't assemble and unleash a mob on the Capitol to stop the counting of votes. These are all crimes.

Didn't age well.
Here's what Donald Trump said about Hillary Clinton in 2016 on the possibility she'd get indicted:
"We could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and ultimately a criminal trial...It would grind government to a halt.”
If Trump gets back to the WH, he'd be a sitting president under multiple felony indictments. #NeverTrump
