We spoke to 10 x IT leaders at $ Billon Dollar Companies in the last week All of them said "this is the best case study I've ever seen..." New Relic equipped 4,000 employees with 2 x People Why is this so impressive? We typically see a ratio of 150:1 for IT support to employees at well-run, best-in-class IT Ops teams New Relic is > 2,000:1 🤯 🤯🤯 Click the below link to download their playbook info.firstbase.com/New_Relic…

I’ve never said “Firstbase is the world leading IT services and device lifecycle management platform globally” The worlds leading IT operators at global enterprises pick us because: 1. A Billion $$$ public company reduced IT ticket volume by >40% in 3 months 2. A Billion $$$ recently acquired company saw Asset Retrievals rates increase by over 30% 3. A Billion $$$ PE owned company manages IT logistics for 2,500 employees with 1 x person We’ve always let that do the talking for us 👊

The reason there aren’t more huge EU Tech Companies is simple: Most EU investors start by asking “how do you avoid downside?” while US investors ask “how big could this be if everything goes right?” I tried to build @Firstbase in Scotland. “Leading” voices in the tech ecosystem *literally* told me I was being too ambitious “Can’t be done from here” “Someone in the US will do it” They were right – we moved @Firstbase to the US the week after and did it
Nice work! Explains why Europe has zero tech industry and so much of its best talent decides they have a brighter future in America.

Sharing a confession: we never meant to build Firstbase We started out as a FinTech company called Nexves in 2018. We had no choice but to be a remote company for 3 reasons: 1. I'm from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Even though I'm a good recruiter if I had to convince all the world-class people we needed to be successful to move to Scotland, and work in an office in the middle of nowhere, it would have been a very hard sell. So we didn't do that 2. We were a startup 🐣 And like most very early-stage startups we didn't have much money. We had only raised ~$70K, and spending any of that on office space seemed like a bad idea, so we didn't do that either 3. Quality of Life ❤️ I'd missed my kids walking, laughing, and talking for the first time. I wanted to be there to see them grow up. I wanted to spend more time with my family. I wanted to travel more. But I also wanted to do the best work of my life with the most talented people I'd ever been lucky enough to work with Remote work was the only way I could get all those things. As new team members joined, challenges and issues in operating as a remote company became obvious. We'd get on a call with people for the first time and see them sitting on their sofa or at the kitchen table We'd ask them: "you don't have a desk, chair, monitor, or keyboard" They'd tell us: "you gave me a laptop, that's all I have." So we started to provide our team with the equipment they needed. Because we were so small, ordering equipment was my job. I ordered what they needed I saw how expensive it was. I felt how time-consuming it was. When things turned up later, it sucked If things broke, it wasted time and was hard to fix When anyone left in the future, how would we get it back? It all came to a head at the end of one week when several people join Something doesn't turn up on time Something breaks on the second day The wrong things arrives on the third day By Friday, me and my co-founder would have a weekly debrief, and I was frustrated. I'd spent my whole week on this. It sucked when we were 5 people. But this was going to be even harder if we made it to 50 As we stared at the problem, we realized we were uniquely placed to solve this problem. All the equipment I was trying to put in people's homes, I'd put on Oil and Gas Platforms in the most remote places globally. My co-founder had done tech infrastructure in the most remote places in the world Solving this problem wasn't that hard for us, so we started building something internally to take care of the pain As friends built remote businesses, we'd ask them if they were struggling with the same thing. Every single one of them told us that there were. Because of the fintech business we were talking to global banks. They told us the same thing Firstbase was born in September 2019 Since then Firstbase has been used by 10's of Thousands of workers at every size of company from small startups to household names you all know So much more to do to deliver the same experience to millions more

The phrase “Remote work” has been hijacked to mean Work from Home Remote work does not mean WFH, it means Work from Anywhere (WFA) Here are a few other things it means:
