This is the first thing a user sees when opening the built-in web browser on Windows. An old person just trying to log on to their bank is shoved a screen-full of advertisements, drivel, and news; then, before they can even read a word, a nag pop-up appears to "personalise" the drivel to their own taste to make it even more distracting; and then to top it all off, a cookie banner appears full of meaningless legalese. It all confusingly flashes in over the course of a few seconds. It's practically a work of art in how user-hostile it is. It used to be that you had to accidentally install a virus to get this kind of thing, but thanks to Microsoft and advertisers we've now got it out-of-the-box on Windows. Making the web difficult to use, overwhelming, slow, and unsafe for the less tech literate 🎉
