Pleased to announce the latest work of talented Prashant Rai @mitoimunfection just published in @jclinicalinvest : jci.org/articles/view/171982. We show that IRGM1 supports #hostdefense against intracellular #bacteria by suppression of type I #interferons!
This counters the longstanding paradigm of IRGM1 as an #interferongamma cell-autonomous antimicrobial protein. Exciting implications. Thanks to our collaborators @mayer_barber and Greg Taylor.
