Do you use Hallmark_Estrogen_Response_Early/Late signatures from MSigDB? Then try out more comprehensive signatures such as ones we generated from gene expression changes across 66 RNA-seq and 80 microarray experiments e.g. LI_ESTROGENE_META_E2_RESPONSE_UP

🎯 Thrilled to share our new paper in collaboration lead by @AlirezaMashaghi and Team on the Androgen Receptor with a key role in the pathophysiology of spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy (SBMA, Kennedy's disease) due to polyglutamine expansions 🧩 @AlbaJimP1 @Andrea_AlegreM
Delighted to share our data on the conformational dynamics of the human #androgen #receptor and its #polyglutamine-expanded variant. We propose a structural mechanism for spinal and bulbar #muscular atrophy.

This is such an unacceptable response for an NIH PD to give to a trainee. For the record she did read the notices and discuss with her mentor (me), and I recommended she reach out and ask. Wonder why talented young people are leaving academia? This is why @NIH 😑

We got another grant rejection today but I remain unfazed. I know where I started and the impact I’ve had already, and I know the impact I will have going forward.
If I required others to see my potential and my vision to forge ahead, I’d have stopped long ago.

Our work on metabolism of quiescent cells! A bit of a new area for us in collaboration with the Buckanovich lab
New research reveals that #acetate drives quiescence in ovarian #cancercells by boosting ACSS2-mediated acetyl-CoA production. High ACSS2 levels are linked to poor patient outcomes and #chemoresistance.
Targeting ACSS2 could enhance treatment response!

Glad to share our study in npj Precision Oncology nature.com/articles/s41698-0…, where we cross-compared transcriptomes and immune infiltration in ILC tumors, building on work by @OnkarSayali (nature.com/articles/s43018-0…). Our findings reveal a proliferative subtype linked to increased suppressive immune infiltration, and a signature characterized by lower proliferation, pro-inflammatory TAM infiltration, and improved survival in ER+ breast cancer.
Great appreciations to co-authors Drs. Sayali Onkar @OnkarSayali, Jian Zou, Yujia Li, Haley Arbore @haley_arbore00, Sai Maley, George Tseng, Peter C. Lucas, Tullia C. Bruno @BcellBruno, Dario A. Vignali @Vignali_Lab, Julia Foldi @JuliaFoldiMD, Marija Balic, and especially mentors Drs. @Adrianvlee & @oesterreichs for their invaluable support, expertise, and contributions.
