Have you ever seen an epithelial cell with more than one apical domain? Here, we present evidence for multi-apical polarity of alveolar stem cells (AT2s) @iScience_CP

This has implications for alveolar regeneration – do we actually need many AT2s or can a few perform the regeneration of many? What happens to AT2 apical domains in diseased lungs? Well, in cigarette smoke exposed mice, the number of apical domains/AT2 is decreased! (5/6)
