Indian space startups raised $871 million total since 2021, but most money went to just 10 companies :) Skyroot got $150 million, Pixxel got $96 million, AgniKul got $76 million. Together these 10 took 63% of all capital raised. Meanwhile 64% of India 285 space startups have not raised any outside funding. Number of deals dropped from 69 in 2025 to 37 in 2026, but total money went up. Investors are writing fewer but bigger checks, concentrating bets on companies they believe will win. When Skyroot rocket reached orbit on July 18, it reshaped how investors see Indian space startups. India became 3rd country after US and China where private company put satellite in orbit. Before this, investors funded startups based on government reforms and policy promises. After Vikram 1 succeeded, investors started looking at commercial potential. Global funds like GIC and Temasek are now investing But only 25% of India 285 space startups have raised any outside money. Rest face real risk of shutting down or merging in next 18 months :) India space market is worth $13 billion today, expected to reach $40 billion by 2030. India has 2nd most space startups globally by count but ranks only 10th in funding, getting just 1.3% of global spacetech investment. I feel VC money is still lower in india, US have better access thats why they keep it up and China have state mercenary China raised $1.17 billion for space startups in 2025, which was 14 times more than India's $83 million. India has companies and talent but not enough growth capital to compete at global scale.
