For more than five years now, Gattahalli Road has been left in a dire state, with no significant repairs or improvements undertaken. Despite numerous requests and complaints from frustrated residents, the responsibility to address this issue keeps shifting from one authority to another. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), which should ideally handle urban infrastructure, points fingers at the local Panchayat, claiming the area falls under their jurisdiction. In turn, the Panchayat shifts the burden to the local Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), citing a lack of resources and authority to carry out the necessary repairs. When approached, the MLA insists that the responsibility lies with the state government, which, according to him, has not allocated the required funds to address the problem.
This endless loop of passing the buck leaves citizens without solutions, stranded between various government bodies unwilling to take ownership. It’s particularly concerning when we consider the fact that Karnataka, and especially Bangalore, contributes significantly to India’s economy, generating about 11.9% of the nation’s direct taxes. Many of the taxpayers who contribute to this revenue traverse these damaged roads daily, enduring the hardships and risks that come with poor infrastructure.
Such a situation not only causes frustration but also raises important questions about accountability. Are the contributions of citizens being utilized effectively? Why should residents continue to bear the burden of unsafe, poorly maintained roads while contributing significantly to the nation's coffers? The constant delay in action highlights a gap in governance, where citizens feel abandoned by the very authorities elected to serve them. It underscores the need for a more accountable, responsive approach to public infrastructure, one that truly reflects the spirit of "Brand Bengaluru" as a city that values its residents and prioritizes their safety and quality of life.

It's a shame for our Governance in Bengaluru that this differently abled student still has to struggle on the terrible Gattahalli main road connecting Sarjapur rd, Huskur and Ecity daily. Why can't we fix basic infrastructure? It is agony everyday for students & official commute.

whole stretch is full of potholes, take left from APMC fruit market & there is no road left. So many schools, hospitals etc are on this stretch but GoK can’t provide basic infra.
@dpkBopanna @ndtv @TOIBengaluru should cover all roads in ECity, ELCITA alone is not ECITY.
Another pothole related death in Bengaluru, 26-year-old Priyanka Poonia who was working with OSB a UK based bank died after a truck ran over her near Huskur Main Road. Her brother riding their bike says he had to brake suddenly as the car ahead slowed down due to a pothole, causing the accident. FIR registered, investigation on.

Electronic City Phase 1, 1st cross road at Neeladri - opposite the A2B restaurant. Please stop this public harassment (road encroachment) by certain local businesses, tow these cars damaging the foot path.

This is very much needed for last mile connectivity, else it will be very hard to use metro and then for last 1-2 KM rely on Cabs or Autos etc.
