Decided to experiment with Iron age Balkan proxies for myself on qpAdm. These NM_IA samples from Skopje on a PCA plot similarly to other Iron Age west Balkan groups Such as Cinamak/Montenegro MLBA. Using the IBDPCA tool, All except one NM_IA sample shares no IBD connections with Thracians. @FoecCisalpi

1) Ancient DNA comes often with bad coverage. You can fill the gaps statistically using GLIMPSE fairly standard practice. The obvious worry however is does that quietly drag the ancient genome toward the moderns you borrowed from in Admixtools? So I tested it. 🧵

I'd like to formally release the Pipeline that I used for AncIBD, in addition to mistakes I have made and things that I have done to fix them. They will be addressed in the replies drive.google.com/drive/folde… Included here is the AncIBD pipeline + 137 phased and Imputed Balkan/Anatolian samples with at least 600K 1240K SNPS (Per AncIBD Documentation)

Interestingly enough, medieval Bulgarians on the PCA sit almost perfectly on a Slavic to Anatolian cline (with the average of the two samples being in the center of the cline)

I am creating a collection of imputed and phased 1240K samples that can be used for IBD programs such as AncIBD All samples that will be in this collection will have at least 500K 1240K SNPs of coverage , and any contaminated won't be included. The collection will be constantly updated over the weeks, and there's currently 137 Balkan/Anatolian samples from the Iron age to the early modern era. drive.google.com/drive/folde…

No surprise that you are a disingenuous rat having to game G25 by using Hellenistic era samples with full Mycenaean/Thracian profiles causing Shtike to be deflated. qpAdm and G25 are very consistent with each other in this case (I think qpAdm is still more plausible here) NorthMacedonia_Skopje_IA,0.1320350,0.1513140,0.0263985,-0.0298775,0.0304675,-0.0079480,0.0029375,-0.0006920,0.0049085,0.0393630,-0.0006495,0.0061445,-0.0133055,-0.0018580,-0.0130970,-0.0006625,0.0177975,-0.0012035,0.0051535,0.0006250,-0.0134760,0.0014220,0.0003080,0.0015065,0.0062270 Italy_RomanImperial_oWestAnatolia.SG,0.1085116,0.1522167,-0.0333962,-0.0683683,-0.0018467,-0.0252239,0.0008878,-0.0084869,-0.0066809,0.0250676,0.0044387,0.0037299,-0.0069872,0.003043,-0.0145822,-0.0041102,0.0081852,0.0009713,0.0014384,-0.0027651,-0.0006653,0.0040394,-0.003396,-0.0000536,0.0004126 Poland_Medieval_Slavic.SG,0.129159,0.125605,0.075623,0.068357,0.042939,0.025320,0.006283,0.012485,0.000215,-0.023106,-0.002171,-0.009402,0.012425,0.022461,-0.011300,0.000928,0.007082,-0.000740,0.002666,0.004147,-0.003028,-0.004998,0.007966,-0.007966,0.000498

I hope you learn to embrace your Greek DNA someday. Especially with your Paternal "Rhomioi" Haplogroup.

Very excited to present a preprint of the first chapter of my thesis, which focuses the end of the LGM (Ice age / Last Glacial maximum) in Europe, and specifically the post-LGM Balkans.

I ran a set of IA Balkan rotations for @IllyrianJ2bL283. He passes the best with Albania Cinamak BA_IA. The Only model that does not pass is Bulgaria EIA one.

I love seeing people do these sorts of very interesting experiments! I also recommend @benmpeter's beautiful work relating f-statistics (which qpAdm is built on) and PCA. Read it here: royalsocietypublishing.org/r…
SmartPCA is pretty good For diagnosing qpAdm models/selecting the best sources. The predicted point is almost identical to the actual point despite different computational methods. (Shows predicted point based on QpAdm model vs actual point)

Directly Inspired by @ObliterVict I made a genetic map of the Peloponnese, specifically using Postmedieval Albanian samples that existed around the time that the Arvanites settled into Greece #qpAdm #Greece #Albania #DNA #History Models: pastebin.com/vPE0RMyx
🧵Exploring the genetics of the Peloponnese: Roman Peloponnesian (41.9%-62.0%), Medieval Albanian (20.3%-37.9%), and Slavic (13.8%-28.8%) ancestries. Modern data is sourced from Stamatoyannopoulos et al. (2017), while Roman Peloponnese samples are from Psonis et al. (2025).

@philosofveritas You can't cope anymore. Literally the results are almost identical to Victs models brah where Shtike and Kenete are used (Which are medieval albanians)
