Interesting case studies from this DfE research on belonging.
What struck me:
- Good lesson routines help absent pupils belong again
- Staff belonging comes first
- Belonging is mostly a byproduct, not itself a target.

NEW: Powerful habit changes for more inclusive teaching. teacherhead.com/2026/09/24/p… via @teacherhead
I could write word for word what @EHarveyMaths has written here. Best place I’ve ever worked for so many reasons. Come and see for yourself if you are interested. You might just make the best career decision you’ve ever made! We’d love to welcome you here 😃

Every chapter in our new book started with a conversation.
Yesterday we celebrated some of the people behind those conversations.
Thank you for helping shape the Edu-Book Club story.
Here’s to the next conversation!

Thank you, @SPryke2 . A privilege to have Ready to Teach: Macbeth open the book and even better to celebrate with you yesterday. Every chapter started with a conversation and yours was one of the first. Here’s to many more! @teachals @DaveTushingham #EduBookClub #EduBookClubLIVE
The book launch last night was such a wonderful way to spend an evening, getting to talk with amazing people about PD. Our learning cannot happen without the expertise and generosity from people like yourself. Thank you so much, we hope the book does your work justice.
So great to see ‘Ready to Teach: Macbeth’ showcased in @Noni_Rainbow and @DaveTushingham’s new book, ‘Making Professional Development Work in the Classroom’. Congratulations on publication both! A superb reflection of the edu-book club. I’m looking forward to diving in over the summer! amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/1032882…
Our next iteration of our curriculum work, @MccreaEmma Maths in Action book @WALKTHRUs_5 @teacherhead shows the journey (superb book by the way if you’ve not read it!). @EHarveyMaths knows his stuff, a great person to connect with if you’re interested in writing booklets.

We drew heavily on @Kris_Boulton and @mrbartonmaths's work on atomisation. Complex procedures were broken down into their tiniest foundational steps, allowing us to explicitly teach and secure each atom before asking students to combine them into full mathematical routines.
This is well worth a look, the thinking behind the exercises @Kris_Boulton
Over the last year, our maths department at Blaise High School transitioned from a traditional spiral curriculum to a Year 7 mastery booklet model. As part of the @WeAreInBeta_ ‘Curriculum Thinkers Week 2026’, we are sharing our editable booklets, route map, and rationale.
Having the privilege of teaching from Edd’s resources, I’ve been so impressed with how quickly student understanding has strengthened. Great pd listening to Edd talk about it too, understanding why his resources work. Worth checking out his @WeAreInBetaPod session on booklets!

Confirmation of the worst kept secret in education: I’ve written a book!
About four years ago I was lucky enough to get stuck into the science of belonging as part of a fellowship.
I’ve poured all of the insights I’ve learned into this. And I’m excited! Preorder available now!
This looks great, worth checking out. @WeAreInBetaPod Curriculum Thinking week always full of great ideas, this one will be no different with our very own @EHarveyMaths delivering a wonderful session on teaching from booklets in maths!

Absolutely. The phrase is overused, but in my view he is, in education at least, a national treasure.
