So excited that ‘100 for 100: Macbeth’ is out in the world today, in paperback and for Kindle! We hope it is useful to students and to teachers alike. We really enjoyed writing this one, and can’t wait to hear what you think! 🤩🗡️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🩸@SPryke2 @JohnCattEd Amazon: amzn.eu/d/bX1dIxx Sample pages: dropbox.com/scl/fo/cdvtwf9q9…

Banquo calls Macbeth his PARTNER twice in Act 1 Sc 3: "My noble partner you greet with present grace and great prediction" and "Look, how our partner's rapt". But Macbeth only uses PARTNER once, in his letter in Act 1 SC 5: "My dearest partner of greatness". 1/

If there was ever a case for asking students to write out the full date, rather than an 01/01/01 shorthand, it’s tomorrow…

I'm still thinking about @Counsell_C’s ResearchEd East Anglia keynote, looking at how we can foster excitement for discovery amongst students through the stories we teach. Next year, we're going to read 'Where The Heart Should Be' by @SarahCrossan. Christine's session really reminded me of @MaryMyatt’s mantra of a 'text as the beating heart of the lesson'. Before we read anything, this introduction is what I'm going to use to lead students into the story. I’ve imitated the style from ‘Expanding Worlds’. I’ve placed too much emphasis on annotation and analysis recently - time to get students curious about stories in my classroom again! @ATTInstitute

Happy 4th birthday to ‘Ready to Teach: A Christmas Carol’. @teachals and I are still incredibly proud of this book. It reached 29 in the ‘All Books’ chart on Amazon which completely blows my mind and the incredible @MaryMyatt, someone we both look up to so very much, wrote our foreword. It’s been so wonderful to see how staff are using this book in their departments and the conversations we’ve had with English teachers about how they’re now approaching Dickens’ text. Thank you to everyone who has read it and continues to support it. Subject knowledge is extremely important and something we all deserve to pay attention to as teachers. The aim of this book was to create a resource that teachers could return to time and again to enhance their practice. We hope we’ve achieved what we set out to do!

We're reconsidering texts. If you could choose any gothic novel for Year 7 / 8 that allowed for close analysis of language, study of setting as well as presenting lots of Tier 2 vocab, what would it be? @mrsmacteach33 @Xris32 @teachals @DavidDidau @HaleDonal @Doug_Lemov @LauraLolder @HughesHaili @EMCTeach @MiriamHussain_ @s_donarski @carnaby_mr
