📢 New Publication Alert! A new study by #IamAPHRC researchers @Komondi89 , Eliud Wekesa, Symon M Kariuki, Rachel Odhiambo, Daniel Osuka, @SoumOUEDER , Patricia Kitsao-Wekulo, @agnes_kiragga , and @CKyobutungi highlights the growing influence of Demographic and Health Survey (DHS)-based research in shaping both science and policy. The study found that DHS-based evidence continues to drive scientific discovery through increasing academic citations while informing health policies and decision-making across low- and middle-income countries. The findings underscore the importance of sustained investment in high-quality, open, nationally representative data to strengthen evidence-informed policymaking. The value of partnership lies in what it makes possible that neither side could do alone. That's the idea behind APHRC’s new five-year partnership with @fraycollege of Communications. Together, we're working to strengthen the ways African researchers, communicators, and practitioners share their work, so that evidence moves beyond academic journals and into parliaments, ministries, and public debate. This will be done through cohort-based fellowships that equip researchers with structured training in science communication, advocacy, and policy engagement. To kick off the collaboration, we're hosting a webinar titled "Claiming the Researchers' Power: Why Researchers Must Enter the Public Arena," on July 29, 2 pm EAT/1 pm CAT.
