Every year, CARTA partners come together for a week of conversations, reflection, and collaboration in one of the African partner institutions. This year, we are in Malawi, hosted by Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (@KUHeS_mw), for the 22nd CARTA Partners’ Annual Forum, taking place from September 21–24, 2026. The week-long engagements bring together representatives from CARTA partner institutions, funders, CARTA leadership and secretariat, leads of CARTA research hubs and Malawi-based fellows for conversations that shape the direction of the program and strengthen the partnerships behind it. This year’s Forum is especially significant. 2026 marks the beginning of CARTA’s new Strategic Plan for 2026–2030. The Forum provides an important moment to come together, take stock of implementation progress, deepen institutional ownership, and launch the strategy, formally marking the next chapter. Over four days, partners will take stock of CARTA’s performance and progress while also creating space for meaningful engagement with our funders and strengthening the partnerships that make CARTA possible. #CARTAPAF2026 #CARTAImpact @CKyobutungi @KarimiFlorah @CavensK @Waithaka_KE @amveyange @aphrc @Makerere @uonbi @MoiUniversity_ @OAUniversity @UniIbadan @Uni_Rwanda @WitsUniversity @ifakarahealth @BergenUib @AgincourtHDSS @eseo_ong @uniofgothenburg @uniofwarwick @BrownUniversity

The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent aid cuts have brought renewed attention to the colonial foundations that continue to shape global health. Yet, despite growing conversations around decolonization, rigorous empirical evidence on how these systemic challenges manifest in practice remains limited. Join #IamAPHRC’s Dr. Anthony Mveyange in a Webinar hosted by Charité Center for Global Health as he explores evidence on how colonial attitudes, power asymmetries, and inequitable resource distribution influence global health collaborations. He will also share practical recommendations on how institutions can better position themselves within the decolonization agenda. Lecture Topic: “Decolonizing Global Health: Practitioner Perceptions and Pathways for Practice” 📅 July 15, 2026 ⏰ 2:30 PM (CEST) 🔗 Register here: buff.ly/UNJ9BUp @CKyobutungi @DMdiarafa @amveyange @RatemoJuliet @williamsila @MangwanaVJ @deborahndlovu @ndonyesarah @DorcasOdhiambo @CharityWaweru @Hope_shete
