This idea that I should be worried about getting a visa to America simply because I have an opinion is actually part of the problem we need to address as Africans. For the longest time, we have been made to believe that criticizing these so called “first world countries” might cost us an opportunity to visit them, and sadly, that fear has kept so many people silent. I have always believed that these visa restrictions exist by design. You make people so desperate for access to your country that they become afraid to question you, while making millions from visa applications that don’t even guarantee entry. Meanwhile, we are busy welcoming citizens of these same countries into our nations, some without even requiring a visa. I think we have spent far too long giving these countries power over us, including the power to determine what we can and cannot say about them , yet they say the worst about us.Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but the winds of change will blow across Africa. We will make Africa Great Again!!And I genuinely hope we get to a point where no African feels the need to silence themselves just to qualify for a visa.

After many episodes recorded across time zones and video calls, yesterday I finally got to sit in the same room as my Inside Track co-panelists! We recorded a very special live episode of Global Health Matters at the World Health Summit in Berlin, with @GarryAslanyan hosting, @RBaptistaLeite alongside me, and @SaniaNishtar, CEO of Gavi, joining us as our special guest. We unpacked the Accra Reset and its ten recommendations for reforming global health architecture. youtube.com/live/s-0g6z2ymww…

Boss,This one of yours is a result of ignorance and poor planning. If you want to go into business that requires survellience, get consultation first. Sasa kama hapa,if you had asked me,I would have advised you get commercial survellience cameras, what you are using is for domestic survellience. There are cameras for the specific work you’re complaining about. If you want are keen on counting, there are cameras we call the ANPR’s. The monitors vehicles coming in and going out(thats 2 cameras,entry/exit) . They capture the number plate,a 3D photo, time car came in,colour of car and make, and then uploads all this data in a spreadsheet you can access on your phone, even in real time. If the number of cars dont match with the revenue, then you can know what leaked when, and by how much If theres anyone who has such an problem send them my way,or just check keensight.co.ke and see what we have,we’re happy to offer consultations. At a fee of course
If you run a car wash business, CCTV surveillance system will not save you from those your rogue car wash workers. Take this to the bank. Your effort to count the cars washed, whether inside or outside, underwater, washing, vacuuming, etc will be frustrating and exhausting. Some payments may not reflect the exact service provided. Just sit at your car wash, make it your daily office and receive all payments on the spot. Record all cars that come in and the service requested. Business requires some insane sacrifices to succeed.

This Queen Arusha story encampsulates everything that's wrong with this "cowntry" South Africa is "Ankole cowing" more than Ankole itself 🤭🤭
On 3 October 2026, Queen Arusha, a nyankore cow, was sold at Phala Phala, near Bela-Bela in Limpopo, South Africa, for R6.4 million. That is about Uganda Shillings 1.53 billion. Here in Uganda, a Nkore breed cow may sell for around UGx 2 million. We have the cattle. South Africa patented the breed and built the commerce. We sell cows, then organise workshops on poverty. Of course Queen Arusha was special. Her bloodline carried a good story, her breeding was managed, her ownership was clear, and serious buyers trusted the auction. That is the whole point. A cow becomes valuable when a serious society builds serious value around it. Here, records disappear, standards bend, money changes hands under the table, and we wonder why our assets attract village prices. Corruption is not only money stolen from government. It is the tax we pay on everything we own: every cow, every kilo of coffee, every acre of land, and every wrong diagnosis in a hospital. Uganda is not poor. We are making ourselves cheap. A country that cannot make its papers, laws and promises trustworthy cannot make its cattle, coffee or tourism expensive. That is why Queen Arusha’s sale should disturb us. Not because South Africa has a cow worth USh1.53 billion, but because we have too many things whose value we have never organised. How we get there is the argument in my book, The Five Levels of Economic Power: How Nations Capture Value and Why Africa Must Climb the Ladder.

The emotional burden of parenting a child with autism in Kenya extends far beyond diagnosis. 📕 In a new blog published on @UKFIET #IamAPHRC’s Fridah Gatwiri Kiambati and Davis Muli Musyoki explore the lived realities of parents raising children with autism. Drawing insights from conversations within a parents’ WhatsApp support group, the piece highlights the profound emotional labour caregivers carry including navigating stigma, broken services, financial pressures, and social isolation. 👉️ Read more: buff.ly/Rt1VO3u #APHRCResearch #Autism #MentalHealth #InclusiveEducation #Kenya #EvidenceToPolicy @MNgware @LucyWakiaga @Kilichobaki @atiabu @kadzomudzo @DMdiarafa @amveyange @CKyobutungi @Mulidavis @RatemoJuliet @williamsila @MangwanaVJ @deborahndlovu @ndonyesarah @njerimbuthia @Chris_Maero

I co-authored a piece in the @TheLancet with Ebere Okereke, Spring Gombe, and @MagdaNRobalo. We argue the Accra Reset needs to convert "sovereignty" from a talking point into real country power. The Global health architecture has been seriously disrupted and sovereignty has emerged as a rallying point for reform efforts. Ministries of health will be held accountable for outcomes, yet external partners still control the priorities, the financing channels, the indicators, and the data. That's a governance failure that got us to this point. The Accra Reset provides a real opportunity to fix this failure. thelancet.com/journals/lance…
