Right now, the biggest risk to financial markets is an oil shock, as it impacts everything. #CrudeOil is heading back towards all-time highs, and US WTI is closing the gap with Brent. The world’s oil problem is becoming a US problem too. Meanwhile, another concern is market concentration. 📈 The world’s 100 largest companies now account for 43% of the global market cap. That level of concentration is rare and usually appears only at major market peaks. Eventually, that concentration will reverse. We saw major rotations in 1975, 2003, and 2009, and the latest market rotation may already be underway. This is when the real opportunities kick in. Since 2015, oil refiners have outperformed oil producers, but that is set to change. 📈 Oil refiners’ margins (the crack spread) are at record highs, but the stocks are no longer the bargain they were in 2014. Meanwhile, the forward oil price is picking up, and the market is signalling that disruption is here to stay. Today’s Venture targets an oil producer with improving price performance, high returns, and low valuation. With forward oil prices poised to rise, this company is well positioned to benefit - link in reply 👇

The next big global stock rotation is under way, and it looks more like 2000 than 2009. Mega-caps are easing back, yet more stocks rose than fell last week. $URTH held flat as mid- and large-caps took up the slack. 📈 Emerging trends have exploded higher, bear trends are easing, and energy is outpacing tech hardware. Less than 10% of stocks (blue line) are in strong uptrends. Concentrated in high-vol megacaps. Red line is the underperformers - 35% of the market in weak trends. Record breadth means index doesn't reveal lived performance of most stocks. Data from bytetrend.io

In 20 years, we haven’t seen so few stocks outperforming the market — or so many lagging 📉 @AtlasPulse suspects the last time it was this extreme was at the 2000 dotcom peak. #Semiconductors are rolling over after failing to make new highs. A big rotation looks likely - time to prepare. 🛢️ Meanwhile, crude isn’t selling off despite the messaging. Oil for delivery in late-2027 is rising again, the market’s way of saying oil is staying "stronger for longer." 📈Crude oil spot and forward delivery (source: Bloomberg) This and more in the latest Multi-Asset Investor - link in reply👇 #Oil $BRNB $SPOG

UK small and mid-caps have been left behind this cycle. But look closer, and there are hidden gems. This week’s Venture pick is a UK payments business: 📉 Shares back at 2006 levels 📈 Sales rising nicely 💰 Strong share buybacks 💷 6% dividend yield And a new uptrend has just begun. You don’t see that very often. Link to the article in reply 👇 #UKStocks #SmallCaps #Investing

Where is the alpha in global markets? Find out here ⬇️
Only 9.4% of global stocks are outperforming the market right now; 46.7% are firmly underperforming. Market leadership has not been this narrow since before the Global Financial Crisis in 2008. This week’s Global Trends Investor from Charlie Morris and Kit Winder, CFA, is the first issue built on the newly released ByteTrend.io, with history now going back to 2006: 📈 Bond yields are the primary driver. The average trend score across 4,000 stocks is 1.4, against a long-run norm of around 2.5. Only the mega-caps are growing fast enough to justify their place, and they’re big enough to hold the index up on their own. 🗺️ Weakening breadth can signal trouble ahead. Deteriorating market breadth preceded the 2018 sell-off, the March 2020 crash, the 2022 bear market and the 2025 tariff shock. 🏆 Poland now tops the global table, ahead of Taiwan, while Asia and the Middle East weaken. The launch of @ByteTrend is the culmination of two decades of thought, and two years of hard work. Our CIO and founder, @AtlasPulse, has spent decades wishing for a better platform on which to analyse trends in global financial markets. Now, thanks to the hard work of our team, he has it. Introducing: ByteTrend...
Trend following enhances returns and controls risk. Also known as the momentum factor, it is one of a handful of factors in investing with a proven ability to generate alpha. This month, @ByteTree has relaunched ByteTrend (bytetrend.io/) to help investors analyse, understand, and capitalise on the momentum effect. The chart shows the returns from buying winners (blue) vs buying losers (red). The momentum effect has generated a 16x return over the past thirty years.

The US 10-year yield has gone from under 4% to over 5.3% in 500 trading days or less. That has only happened once before, in June 2007. And it isn't happening in isolation. French government bond yields are at their highest since the 2011 euro crisis, and US mortgage rates are back at 2001 levels. Of the major markets, only China is seeing yields fall. Rising rates usually work against quality stocks, which behave a bit like bonds. But there is a tipping point. Once rates get high enough to worry investors about stretched valuations and a narrow market, the resilience of quality stocks starts to matter more. In this latest ByteTree Quality update, @AtlasPulse and @WinderKit explain why we are sticking to sound principles rather than chasing the late stages of a narrow and expensive rally. Brazilian Elections caused quite the stir on Monday. @AtlasPulse writes, they "were both unexpected and significant, a rare combination that led to a re-pricing of stocks, bonds and the Real. The Bovespa index $EWZ rose by 7.7%, the Brazilian Real rose by 4%, and the 10-year yield dropped from 14.2% to 12.8% in a heartbeat." Good news for the likes of $NU and $XP. Full note below ⤵️
