A positive move at ESCC reveals a political divide. Politicians MUST come together for the sake of the Uckfield line.

Good to see @mimsdavies giving her support to our cause on Facebook.
We need all such route constituency MPs to be similarly engaged & vocal!
@Nus_Ghani @TomTugendhat @ClaireCoutinho @JamesMacCleary @Heidi_Labour @ThreshedThought
There really can’t be any possible reason not to!
The reinforcement of safeguarding motion has just been passed by @EastSussexCC, despite officer recommendation & a curious number of abstentions. We congratulate and thank those who supported it. @networkrail @transportfutur @Heidi_Labour @mimsdavies @JamesMacCleary @BellaSankey
@RAIL @networkrail @TransportfSE @Modern_Railways @BBCSussex @bbcsoutheast @BBCRadioKent @brightonargus @sussex_express @Clinnick1 @railnigel
It’s actually time to go even further than just safeguarding and move on to actually reinstating the Sussex & Kent phases of BML2 asap.
The vital need for @Heidi_Labour & @transportgovuk to deliver the clearest possible safeguarding of the Lewes-Uckfield route will now be pushed for by the Lead Member for Transport & Environment @EastSussexCC. It’s time to see things progress positively towards reinstatement NOW!

This motion is being put to the full council of @EastSussexCC tomorrow, to attempt to strengthen the safeguarding of the Lewes Uckfield alignment against hindrance to reopening. HOWEVER….
@mimsdavies @Nus_Ghani @ThreshedThought @JamesMacCleary @SteveTheQuip
@Uckfield_Lewes the developing situation is hugely detrimental to all future aspirations and we urge your followers to join in calling for their County Councillors to get behind this motion at tomorrow’s ESCC Full Council meeting!
Replying to @JobsonAmanda
@JobsonAmanda @becinthegreen @Georgia_t @CllrJohnnyDenis @CouncillorJulia @CllrMichaellunn @Eastbournesteve @SPReformUK @WendyMaples the officer recommendation to do nothing re item 9 tomorrow is misguided, it is based upon flawed data. Previous study used data 1of2
Unsurprisingly, the Officer Recommendation is to do nothing, despite stating that not doing so introduces “challenges”.
Previous studies were narrowed and flawed, using town to town only figures & from 1969! URGE YOUR COUNCILLOR TO SUPPORT THE MOTION TODAY!
@BBCSussex @bbcsoutheast @brightonargus @sussex_express @TransportfSE @transportfutur @Heidi_Labour @RMTunion @ASLEFunion @RAIL @networkrail
The misguided officer recommendation must be forensically challenged.
1/2 @EastSussexCC Officer’s recommendations show they haven’t changed their approach to better assisting reinstatement despite acknowledging increased difficulties arising from not supporting the motion.
3/3
Deeply flawed, using usage data from 1969 and traffic figures purely just originating from & to the 2 towns when population was a fraction of its current & future size.
We urge you to make urgent representations to your ESCC cllrs TODAY & tell them to pass this motion!
The @EastSussexCC Local Transport Plan (LTP4) clearly identifies the principles of the Sussex & Kent reopening & development of the route among its core priorities.
@wealdendistrict @mimsdavies @Nus_Ghani @Heidi_Labour @ThreshedThought @JamesMacCleary @TransportfSE @sdnpa
The building of a bridge carrying the A22/A26 has been expected since as early as this resolution was passed by @EastSussexCC in November 1978, so it really should not come as a surprise to @wealdendistrict
@mimsdavies @Nus_Ghani @ThreshedThought @JamesMacCleary @Heidi_Labour
The Owlsbury application completely fails to acknowledge the future need for a bridge as necessary to fulfill the aspirations of @EastSussexCC & @TransportfSE Core Strategies.
@wealdendistrict must act accordingly.
@mimsdavies @Nus_Ghani @ThreshedThought @Heidi_Labour
Chris Bending, WDC Dir of Place, has said reopening was “simply not in anybody’s forward plans”.
But it’s in ESCC’s Rail Strategy, with a 5 year business-case objective & TfSE’s Transport Strategy.
A strategic plan isn’t construction approval. But unfunded doesn’t mean unplanned.
We welcome sight of the fulsome letter of objection sent to @wealdendistrict by @transportfutur East Sussex, which sets out very considered and robust arguments for the strong objection of the Owlsbury Development application as presented.
@mimsdavies
The line needs to go where people need to go…
