Supported through the South Downs National Park Authority's ReNature programme, the project is helping create habitats for wildlife while delivering more than 850 Biodiversity Net Gain units.

Fly agaric.
Stunning to look at but poisonous.
It can be spotted on lowland heath around birch and pine, where it is thought to have a mycorrhizal relationship - sharing nutrients between tree roots and the fungi itself.

Who or what lies beneath Kingley Vale?
A special place of Bronze Age burial mounds and Iron Age camps, tales of hauntings in the dark and silent grove of ancient yews will come as no surprise to those who know this spot.

Stories tell of the Kings’ Graves or Devil’s Humps as the tombs of Viking leaders buried in 894, with the yews marking the battlefield site, stained red with the blood of dead warriors.

The Magpie Inkcap mushroom turns itself into a black, ink-like liquid.
This process helps spread its spores and can leave behind what looks like a puddle of dark liquid in the woods.
These striking mushrooms are toxic, so look, but don't touch.

A gentle reminder to spend some time outside today💚
Nature has a unique way of reducing stress, calming the nervous system and lifting our mood.
It doesn't have to be a big adventure, even a short stroll can help you reset and recharge.
