These last 24hrs have been interesting in PHP land, to say the least! Here's everything we saw, from a monitoring perspective. At its peak, 18.8% of all sites we monitor were down 😱

The NCSC is encouraging UK organisations to prepare for immediate updating of systems using PHP. Where immediate remediation is not feasible, organisations should consider taking the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. For more⬇️ ncsc.gov.uk/news/critical-se…

It's time for a new season of the @LaravelPodcast! This season I'm going to be hanging out with members and friends of the @laravel community. Less structure, less interview, more fun and more hang. First up: The man, the myth, the legend @ericlbarnes! youtube.com/watch?v=zzormcwx…

Software engineering is dead... In other news, a software engineer with 18 years of experience (me) just spent 15 hours refining a big new feature, asking questions that the frontier models hadn't even considered. Software engineering isn't going anywhere.

PHPStan 2.3.0 is out with massive leap in performance, generics improvements, detecting unused variables, improved closure type inference, inferring static variable types from assignments, and engine rewrite!

I made a lot of money from Laravel Daily courses despite the website codebase is pretty crappy, I admit. Why? People paid for the VALUE it provided. They didn't care about my backend code. As a product creator, focus on the value. Your code is not the product.

Excited to watch this! Nico is one of the best devs I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I'm sure I'll learn a ton from this talk πŸ˜„

Generally, I've found that they both highlight some of the same issues. But then they also highlight issues that the other model didn't. For example: Codex detects issues A, B, C, D, E Copilot detects issues A, B, C, F, G (I'm not sure if my example makes sense there haha πŸ˜…)

It's definitely a lot better than it used to be. But there are still times when it flags non-issues as major issues! So that can be a bit annoying haha But I reckon 70-80% of the comments it leaves on my PRs are reasonable and actually point out legit things I could improve 😁

What tools (if any) do you use to help with reviewing PRs? I usually do a first pass with Codex. And then a second pass with Copilot. I'm wondering what other people are using in their own workflows 😁

How I perform database refactors in 2026: - Dashboard is easy to verify but API is harder - We store all API request history. - We run every API request from the past 6 months, with both data models, and verify the output is exactly the same

Hear me out: instead of --memory=1024 on a queue worker, what if you could just do --memory=50% πŸ‘€ Same worker config across every container size, no maths. Ima cook it soon unless someone tells me why its a bad idea 😏

I can't even begin to imagine how surreal/exciting it must have been when LS was being acquired. Or how nerve-wracking it must be to leave Stripe. I'm sure you'll smash whatever you do next! Good luck for the future! I hope everything goes well πŸ˜„
