What could we expect?
Let’s remember who has the voting block that dominates FA.
Having watched @HeatherGarriock on @suitedbootedtv, how confident are you in @FootballAUS leadership?
3%✅✅ Very confident
3%✅ Slightly confident
4%❌ Slightly concerned
91%❌❌ Very concerned

Hi Tas,
The FA has discretion to do what it likes.
Issue is the FA board is stacked with APL (ALeague)votes, and career administrators look at City Group to get a leg up for their next career paths abroad etc.
So they will not reform the code or the ALeague owners competition.
Any Licence fees APL collects now has got to be about repaying SilverLake.
Especially after they $70-80million of it on their media platform Upkeep, Updown, or whatever it was called.
I wouldn’t give much umbrage to what Heather Garriock said on @suitedbootedtv re pro/rel. We know it’s bullshit. The real reason is they’re shit scared about the state of their franchises and the financial blackhole the league is in. It’s why they cook the books & hide so much of the losses. South Melbourne was a square punch in the nose for all of them last Saturday night & the realisation how big the old brigade are in NPL land. They’ll come to us. In the meantime don’t put a dollar into any of their franchises or the FFA other than your rego & coaching fees. Keep your money local. Let them front load the league with the Sydney Derby on a Friday night in desperate need for hype.

As reality sets in after our annual weekend release, post Garriock and Rosich it feels like we're now firmly back under lock and key. I hope we all thanked our jailers for our fun day out. If we behave, we'll get another play date next year.
Let's understand our power to act.

Well the first words which came out of her mouth were “Absolutely not” … any massaging won’t cut it
The catch cry’s, “It’s football but not as you know it” and in 2026 “Absolutely not!”.
Time is now to for clubs to rally around @AAFClubs and make a final push for a home and away @ChampionshipAU
Force change to @FootballAUS policy.
We now know what aspiration looks like.
FA’s Heather Garriock ‘absolutely not’ & APL’s Steve Rosich ‘our focus is on the health & growth of 13 franchises’ hosing down discussion of a Pro/Rel ecosystem. Well, @SMFC smashed the door down, and licenses will expire soon enough. How about a campaign slogan ‘absolutely yes’
Absolutely not!

When will the opportunity to get a Return on Investment end?
They’ve stuffed up our football architecture and now can’t or won’t fix it.
Maybe I should have put this link in.

Hi Mike
So 810,000 viewers on @Channel10AU
Plus
255,000 viewers at the minimum on YouTube (more if you add 110,000 international viewers)
It’s way over 1 million ⚽️🔥👏👏
Another 2️⃣5️⃣5️⃣K in #YouTube highlight views too. My understanding is the international #YouTube live stream cleared 110,000 views as well!
It’s likely the live reach of this match was close to the magical 1️⃣ million mark especially given the amount of feedback I’ve heard & read about group watching around 🇦🇺.
Of course, on social media, it has been a “metrics” phenomenon!

My view on the #australiacup from an NPL perspective.
@SydUtd58FC showed you can make the final.
@HUAlexanderFC showed you could win the final.
@smfc showed you can win the final.
Breaking barriers.

1. The CIA, for toppling Whitlam after he established the Petroleum and Minerals Authority (PMA) in 1974.
2. Fraser, for abolishing said PMA.
3. Howard in 1979, for making Aussies pay the world, not domestic, price of oil.
4. Every government from 1970s to now who didn't establish a mandatory 90-day reserve.
5. Australian Institute of Petroleum (Big Oil) which claimed in 2014 we didn't need a 90-day reserve.
6. Angus Taylor for faking an increased reserve in the USA.
7. Albanese for selling Taylor's fake increase.
8. Trump for attacking Iran.
9. Albanese, Taylor and Hanson for supporting Trump's illegal, immoral and unprovoked attack on Iran.
10. Albanese for preferring bandaids to an all-out mobilisation to establish real fuel security.

Many good points raised. So much to say, but I'll focus on the extract. South don't have to beat Victory. It has won. It is there. It was not meant to be. Along with all its peer clubs, it was designated a supporting community role. It refused its role. It continued to aspire. To be what its people made it. The argument is won. The fact we are having this discussion, as Heidelberg also prompted last year, attests to it since the discussion was declared closed when MV was invented and given the keys to Victoria, as Vic sole rep in the top tier. Exclusively. The door has been prised ajar by pure force of people power.
We don't have two warring factions. We have fans who love the game bequeathed a fractured league structure by the ignoramuses who created it. It takes years to build something. An instant to break it and years more to rebuild it.
Let's stop fearing what and who we are and what our game is here in 🇦🇺 and embrace it. Stop trying to make and remake it and to frame it as divided. If everyone had a chance and if opportunity was equal and open there would be a pyramid of linked divisions, not division through exclusion.
The Australia Cup, introduced as the limit of the excluded clubs connecting with the anointed, has produced the ultimate unintended consequence - a new horizon of possibilities.
This is not a winner takes all battle. It simply demonstrates the chains in which we have tied ourselves. One of our historic clubs at the end of its season, consigned to its state comp, members based, subject to different squad rules, playing a one-off match against a made up privately owned team which bought an exclusive right to our first division. Let's not celebrate this as a climax. Let's treat it as the portent of possibility.
The AL teams are here to stay now. There's no war. Just expose them to true competition. Unite our game. Introduce a true 2nd tier by linking it with the first. Make these games normal. Make them truly competitive. Remove any argument about the game's structure and warring factions. Imagine.
Imagine what the Australian Championship would be if it was a League!
As an 🇦🇺⚽️ fan, the #AusChampionship not only feels like the highest level of ⚽️ in the country (given the rise of the NPL), it’s also the best & most inclusive representation of 🇦🇺 in the history of 🇦🇺⚽️ national competitions!
On a side note, it’s on @SydneyOlympicFC to find a way to be very competitive, to both save face & showcase they deserve to belong amongst 🇦🇺⚽️’s top ranking clubs no? 🤔
