When you intro yourself to me as a #freelancer, I want more than clips. Where'd you grow up? Go to college? Hobbies? Do you have pets?
Every writer has their preferred topics & areas of expertise, but life experience dictates so many more opportunities.

#journorequest I'm looking for female solo travel stories please. Have you had a life changing experience that prompted you to be brave and take the leap? For a case study piece on why more women are choosing to go without partners/friends/kids thanks! – at Barry, Wales

Genuinely curious...as an editor, should I let freelancers know that I would rather not work with them again after going through several disappointing rounds of edits or just slowly stop responding to pitches? Both seem trash so open to other suggestions as well.

Lately I've been having convos w/ editors EXPLAINING why rates need to be higher.
Explaining inflation & that $30/ hour is less than min wage in the US when you account for high self employment taxes, insurance & expenses.
Explaining that good work requires livable compensation.

A bit of professional news. Starting next week, I will be on the @AP Race & Ethnicity team full-time. I think it's accurate I'll be their first reporter allowed to esp focus on Asian American & Pacific Islander issues. Not just the tough news but the quirky and the pop culture-y.
