The storm’s most significant impacts include 40–60 MPH coastal wind gusts, 2–4 inches of rain, and breaking waves ranging between 6–17 feet along the Massachusetts coast.

🌊A strengthening nor’easter is bringing heavy rain, strong winds, & coastal flooding along the U.S. East Coast this weekend!
Coastal flooding has already affected portions of Virginia & North Carolina, with ocean overwash closing a miles-long stretch of road on the Outer Banks.
🌡️Humid heat can be dangerous to human health.
High humidity makes it harder for sweat to evaporate, reducing the body’s ability to cool itself and increasing the risk of heat-related illness.

🚨India and Pakistan have experienced sustained dangerous humid heat this month, much of which would not have occurred without human-caused climate change.
Today, dangerous humid heat driven by climate change is peaking — with around 700 million people forecast to feel it⬇️
Did you know that August 2026 was the warmest August on record globally and for the contiguous United States?

Fall is finally here! For the 50 million Americans with ragweed allergies, pollen season is also sticking around.
Since 1970, fall warming has extended ragweed’s freeze-free growing season in 88% of U.S. cities analyzed.

🌀Pacific waters exceeding 31°C (88°F) helped fuel the storm’s rapid intensification.
🌡️Human-caused climate change made these exceptionally warm waters 100–200x more likely, boosting the storm’s potential strength.

🚨As of September 22, #HurricanePolo underwent extreme rapid intensification – reaching Category 5 strength with sustained winds of 165 MPH off the southwestern coast of Mexico.
🌍 More than 1.5 billion people experienced at least 30 days of risky heat added by climate change this summer.
Wondering where climate change was felt the most strongly this summer?

🚨Dangerous, near-to-all-time record heat is expected to impact more than a dozen states this week🚨
For more than 65 million Americans, these lingering, late-summer temperatures are made at least three times more likely by human-caused climate change.
From September 14-18, temperatures between 101°F and 106°F are forecast in parts of these states:
📍Eastern Texas
📍Oklahoma
📍Louisiana
📍Arkansas
📍Southern Missouri
📍Northern Mississippi
📍Southern Tennessee
Temperatures made at least three times more likely by human-caused climate change are projected to affect approximately 580,000 square miles – an area more than double the size of Texas!

Heat sends thousands to the ER each year. How much does climate change contribute?
New #ClimateCentral research finds that climate change accounted for about 1 in 4 heat-related emergency room visits in the U.S. during the warm season from 2018–2025.

100 days of record ocean heat.
This ain't a marine heat wave.
It's a marine heat era.

🌀#HurricaneLowell brought torrential rainfall to Hawaii — and climate change helped make its Pacific environment unusually warm.
Human-caused climate change made the unusually warm sea surface temperatures along Lowell’s path up to 60 times more likely.
🌧️ As #HurricaneLowell approached Hawaii and made its closest pass on Labor Day Monday, rainfall totals on Kauai exceeded 16–19 inches.
🚨The storm washed out roads, triggered flash flood warnings, and prompted the first-ever tornado watch issued for Hawaii!
🌡️Warmer oceans fuel more evaporation, allowing for additional moisture in the atmosphere. In a warmer world due to climate change, storms like #HurricaneLowell can produce heavier rainfall faster.
