I was one of later speakers in an excellent debate on a proposed new 'Conversion Therapy Prohibition (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) Bill', being championed by the Lib Dems. I ended up scrapping my points on how this Bill could poison family life and criminalise parents if they didn't simply affirm gender identity (other speakers had covered that so well). At least it allowed me to rant against the forced marriage of LGB with TQI...

As an advisor on the Prayers of Love and Faith, I saw that most of the bishops who oversaw the process did not have the theological depth, experience, or kind of wisdom that was needed to see God's prophetic path forward. Instead, a political pragmatism took precedence.

Angela is right. This will visit division and decline on the C of E.
I am beginning to think that the whole LLF process has been a disaster. The C of E embarked on it at the wrong time and in the wrong way and now everyone is going to blame everyone else for an unresolvable split.

Very proud (and, I cannot stress this enough, entirely unsurprised) to watch @alianoree make her maiden speech to #synod this afternoon. Whatever theological convictions, those voting should be able to do so on all the information being made available. (my paraphrase)

An egregious attack on governance, a pastoral catastrophe and something which seeks to divide our churches passes by just 1 vote. I cannot imagine the level of hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance involved in supporting such an amendment #synod

Britain is no country for Christians "What is equally troubling is how traditional Christian beliefs, grounded in the Gospel, are coming into conflict with the New Religion, not just within society at large – but within the church itself." @Emma_A_Webb telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/07…

Some questions for @CouttsandCo Who compiled and agreed the political tests that you used to decide who can be your customers (and resulted in Nigel Farage being banned from banking with you)? Does it have the approval of your CEO? Does it have the support of your parent bank, @NatWestGroup? What was the process by which the Farage decision was taken? Was your Chairman involved and did your board approve? You write of Farage not aligning with your values. Who determined these values? Do other banks in the NatWest Group have the same or different political tests. Who compiled the report into Farage? Who took the decision to terminate his account? How many accounts have you terminated on political grounds? Will you publish the political tests that must be passed so customers can judge if they fulfil them? Do you hold accounts for any political figures or officials involved in undemocratic regimes or territories where human rights are not observed? Do you have accounts of people with criminal records or tax evasion/avoidance prosecutions? Do you accept that as a public company 40% owned by the taxpayer you have an obligation to answer these questions? If you do not accept such accountability have you started preparing answers for your inevitable appearance before a Commons select committee?

The wider Anglican communion is a beautiful gift to the Church. I’m not quite ready to let go and fighting hard to maintain unity where possible. That is why I’m @gafconference to share the good news of all that is happening in the UK.

Very moving debate led by @NickFletcherMP on why Christianity is still as relevant today. Despite the UK being more increasingly secular and the media seeking to erase this foundation that guards the truth of our daily living, grateful to those MPs for boldly sharing their faith.

Let’s all be praying for the Scruggs family. They lost their beloved little girl, Hallie in this act of pure evil. Having lost a son, I know they are in unimaginable  pain right now. I know there are so many “Why” questions. After our son died, Pastor Chuck Smith said to me, “Never trade what you do know for what you don’t know”. Here is what we do know- God loves this Christian family. Little Hallie Scruggs is in Heaven right now. They will all be reunited one day. Hallie is not just a part of their past, she is also a part of their future. May God comfort this family as only He can today. Let’s also be praying for the families of the five others who lost loved ones.

What fresh hell is this? Or is it yet another suicide note from the Church of England? Please can people just get on with their day job: pray, proclaim, evangelise, baptised, marry, bury.
