Some thought provoking points in this helpful thread. Michael’s situation is different from our English Anglican context, but we too may have lessons we could learn.

So in total, 580 people took part in this poll. Of that number:
1) 1/5 of us are at present on antidepressants due in part to ministry related issues
2 4/5 of us are not are present
3 1/3 of us either are or have been
4 nearly 1/2 of us either are, have been or think we need to
I would be very grateful for any comments about this result. Obviously this is in no way is a controlled sample at all, but to me these results seem particularly high.
@joannacollicutt or any others out there, are you aware of any studies in this area that may be interesting for me to look at I would like to think this through a bit more.
If you are a @churchofengland clergy-person are you using antidepressants due in part to ministry related issues?

I loved an archdeacon
I felt my knees weaken
When she offered to lead me in mission.
When she asked me to hold her
I felt humbler and bolder
In line with the C of E vision.
But when I pressed her most avidly
To grant me a faculty
She just gave me list B permission.
The General @Synod session starts this afternoon from 1:30pm with Worship and the joint Presidential Address. Full details, including the live stream access are here: churchofengland.org/about/ge…

For us ex-@synod members, and current ones, and #synod-watchers, an excellent , well-sourced explainer. Essential reading.

For all those who have been asking about the secrecy of the House of Bishops' meetings, Andrew Atherstone provides a very useful history. Time to consider again whether meeting in camera just produces a lack of accountability and huge mistrust. lawandreligionuk.com/2023/11…

I want to highlight this incredibly important piece in the @ChurchTimes. Clergy burnout is huge at the moment. Many clergy I know and love - outstanding, faithful priests - are exhausted. Many are on the point of leaving ministry because demands on them are now unsustainable.
We’ve got a really good feature on clergy burn-out this week, which makes some realities churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2…

The church is such an asset to the flourishing of our country. For a senior government official to refuse to meet with the @JustinWelby is both a major snub and scandal.
I do hope this story is not true. I cannot think of another Home Secretary that would refuse to meet with an Archbishop of Canterbury. The ABC is a member of the House of Lords, the leader of 85 million Anglican Christians around the world.

Why Read The Bible In Hebrew?
Ever wondered why the Bible spends so much time mentioning tons of names? All those "begats"?
What if I told you reading those names in Hebrew can hold the key to understanding entire Biblical stories?
A thread (for non-Hebrew readers too!) 🧵1

I *think* @harrietsherwood means ANY priest, not ALL priests.
Otherwise we're in for a msss extinction event.

John Spence now telling General Synod: "We are hearing reports of a lack of confidence among candidates that there will be long-terms posts for them and among dioceses about their ability to fund those long term posts"
Replying to @MadsDavies
On the fall in ordinand numbers. In 2020, numbers recommended to begin training were 591 - highest for 13 years - falling to 378 in 2022. A goal of Renewal and Reform was to maintain a “stable pool” of 7600 full-time clergy, bearing in mind large numbers due to retire
After hearing of the developments around the Independent Safeguarding Board and the Archbishop’s Council, and conscious of the pain for those involved - starting with survivors - #Synod considers Safeguarding Redress.
