Seven years — St Andrews to Oxford — distilled into 110,000 words. Queering the queer in Contemporary Theology…. Not just the first systematic theology from a gay celibate (Side B) perspective but the first ever treatment from patristics through to modern theology of gay desire.

Wonderful to receive such a striking commendation from emerita Norris-Hulse Professor of Divinity, FBA for my @tandtclark monograph coming in February next year in Enquiries in Theological Ethics. Paper back copies will come mid next year. #theology #books
Some joyful news: my next book, Beyond Compromise, comes out in August 2027, with an afterword by N.T. Wright.
At its heart, it is a theology of love and, how that love is essentially Christ-centred and cross-shaped, levelling the ground into a radical place beyond compromise.

I am deeply shocked and saddened by Ann Widdecombe’s death in such terrible circumstances. My prayers are with her family and friends at this traumatic time.
Ann had a deep Christian faith, which drove her strong principles in a career spent as a committed public servant. As I give thanks for her service to our country, my prayers are with all those who are in shock and grief, and all who put themselves forward for public office.
I am very excited to welcome Paul to the faculty. His the Suffering of the Impassible God and work on the spiritual sense tradition are truly excellent.

People often wonder why I keep speaking about sexuality, and Christian faith — I think most profoundly because it is a sign of a deeper problem: what we do with our hearts, minds, and bodies reflects what we believe in, our sense of value and idea of human flourishing
It is not enough to proclaim the Gospel only with our words, scholarship, or conceptual life; the Gospel is shaped by the incarnation forming our bodies and hearts, reflected in how we live out our love for and obedience to Jesus’ lordship, profoundly reflected in sexuality
The sacrifice of celibate (gay) Christians is still covered over by a society scrambling with all its might to have marriage and sexuality secured for social and cultural capital and superficial approval. Our witness refuses that economy in radical preference for Jesus’ Kingdom.
