I bought three #3dfx V3 3500 cards on eBay. One “tested, working, mint” and two “untested, as-is”. Guess which one is broken 😂
Amazingly, the two as-is cards work perfectly. I figured I’d have to repair one or both.. not the “working” one 🔨

So this Voodoo2 with one pin missing on the FBI and several random ones crushed and touching each other was stuck on eBay for 3 weeks. So I decided to help it.🤷♂️
Straightened all crooked pins and soldered the missing leg back with a wire. And it started working right away.🤪
I’m very curious if adding SMD caps to the unpopulated pads at the rear of a V3 would improve power delivery/overclocking 🤔
Anyone ever seen this done or could suggest appropriate value range to try here? I’m coming up empty in my searches ⚡️

My RTX 2070 Super from 4 years ago seems not all that far behind most modern mid-range cards. Would need to spend >$1K for substantial gains 😕

now THIS is a cursed repair. the intact legs are as straight as I can get them without breaking them. I've repaired 3 legs so far and have 4 more to go (one of the pins exposed is not connected.) hope I can fix this!
