We are thrilled to inaugurate Global Public Health Week 2026 as the University of Rwanda – College of Medicine and health sciences becomes the focal point for academic excellence and strategic health discourse.
In a high-level convergence of academia, researchers, and global health practitioners, #URPHSA facilitated a seminal panel discussion analyzing the critical nexus of Health, Peace, and Sustainable Development in Rwanda.
The session was catalyzed by a powerful opening from Prof. Nyirazinyoye Laetitia (Chair, @RPHA_Official) and a compelling call to action from Dr. Brian Chirombo (@WHORwanda Representative) on the imperative of #PeaceForHealth as a cornerstone of resilient societies.
Our profound gratitude to our distinguished guests from @WHORwanda , @unicefrw, the School of Public Health, and the Mental Health Center, for their commitment to fostering these essential multi-sectoral synergies.
This milestone marks the commencement of a global public health week dedicated to transformative advocacy and collective impact.

This #WorldFoodDay , we’re growing more than trees; we’re growing hope.
Through our Food Security Pillar, @IHI_Rwanda has provided fruit trees to 50+ community members in Nyange Sector.
Every tree planted brings families closer to sustainable food sources and better nutrition.

Bridging gaps in healthcare requires collaboration, clear guidance and community involvement.
Today, through the Tubiteho Project, we brought together healthcare providers, local leaders, community-based organisations (CBOs) and peer educators in @KicukiroDistr to disseminate harm reduction guidelines and share evidence to strengthen support for people who use drugs.
The engagement focused on strengthening understanding of harm reduction, improving coordination between communities and health facilities, and promoting access to respectful, non-discriminatory health services.

🗣️ Up next: Youth Debate & Counselling!
Young people are now engaging in an interactive debate on peer pressure, with both sides sharing their views on how peer influence can affect their decisions, behaviours, and future.
Alongside the debate, some participants are receiving counselling to strengthen their decision-making skills and promote positive, healthy life choices.
Together, we are empowering young people to resist negative peer pressure, make informed decisions, and build a healthier future.

⚽📢The RRP+ Community Campaign kicked off with a football match between GS Rwimiyaga and GS Gacundezi, bringing young people and community members together to promote health awareness and informed life choices.
Alongside the sporting activities, participants are receiving key messages on sexual and reproductive health, mental health, HIV/STI prevention, and TB awareness.
⚽ Up next: A football match between Gacundezi Cell and Rwimiyaga Cell!
💬
🫁 TB Prevention: TB is still a concern, especially for people living with HIV. Take your prescribed medication correctly. If you have a cough lasting more than two weeks, visit a health facility for screening. Protect your health!
🩸 HIV/STI Prevention: Use condoms correctly and consistently, and get tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
🧠 Mental Health: Your mental health matters! Speak up, seek help when needed, and help end stigma.
Healthy Choices, Brighter Future!

The Data Proves It: Progress is Possible, But the Fight Continues .
Thanks to collective multi-sectoral actions, childhood stunting under five dropped significantly from 33% to 27%.
Now, under the ambitious PSTA 5 framework, the Government of Rwanda has set an inspiring new target: reducing stunting down to 15%.
Achieving this milestone requires breaking down sectoral silos. We must seamlessly unite agriculture, digital innovation, and health delivery to ensure nutritious foods remain affordable and accessible to all.
Let's scale up community-driven solutions to turn the 15% vision into an absolute reality.
