Strong "Wives! Know you place" vibes.
Sarah Helm, wife of the UK's national security adviser Jonathan Powell, retweeted a post demanding that her own husband's boss, Keir Starmer, be put on trial at The Hague. Day 2 of the revelations in the Spectator: who is at the Helm in Britain? spectator.com/article/jonath…

One of the weirdest things about British politics is that everyone on the right over the age of 35 somehow thinks they were alive for World War II

Hes selling it and it’s deeply embarrassing for all the leftist content creators who could do little more than complain about the optics.
.@ZackPolanski "I support everyones right to self determination but not at the expense of another group because thats racist" Spot on. If self-determination requires the dispossession/displacement of another people its not self determination, its ethnic cleansing/colonisation

I'm guessing when someone has to legally post an apology but they are a blue tick they make money off that tweet, which doesn't seem entirely in the spirit of things.

The appetite for war makes a lot more sense if you just see it as another drive to shift public money into private hands.

It has never been more evident that the British government's loyalties lie with the markets, the media and whoever has given them a large wodge of cash. The electorate don't come into it.

"You can't say anything bad about a genocidal regime" doesn't feel like the most sustainable domestic policy.

It should be the great scandal of our time that we have a political party that is so morally bankrupt it is willing to use something as serious as accusations of antisemitism as a tool to crush it's opponents.
The mask slips. The media class knows full well what the Labour Party is doing - using antisemitism as a toxic political football. Tawdry, irresponsible stuff from the Labour Party, little more than continuity Starmerism.

Funny that as our media and government stir up anti-Russian feeling they are also employing a load of Putin-esque tropes - barely concealed corruption, deliberately incoherent messaging, and generally pushing the electorate to a place of cynicism, suspicion and disengagement.

One hell of a tweet.
In 2017, Jia Tolentino lifted a series of restrictions on her life. She started putting half-and-half in her coffee instead of drinking it black. She started using emoji instead of forcing herself to communicate in words. And, finally, she watched Lena Dunham’s television show “Girls,” which had premièred on HBO 5 years earlier, in 2012. When “Girls” was on television, some critics lost the ability to distinguish it from real life. Many treated the show as though realism were its ultimate goal. “I don’t need to feel either disturbed by or painfully grateful for seeing women my age rendered in full-blooming imperfection,” Tolentino counters. “Nothing is a direct reflection, other than a mirror: not a friend, not a story, not an auteur, and definitely not a television show.” Read her reflection on “Girls," which Dunham recently announced would see a five-episode revival: newyorker.com/culture/jia-to…

My feed is once again a split screen of burned, broken and terrified children in Gaza versus the UK political psychodrama about what can and cannot be said about the ideological engine of the Israeli government.

I think there is something quietly evil about throwing around spurious accusations of antisemitism in order to discredit a political opponent. It shows a real disdain for actual antisemitism if you are willing to trivialise it that way.

Labour would never go into a coalition with the Greens anyway....but I guarantee they would consider one with the Tories.
