The CCP is engaged in a propaganda campaign against “New Qing History” (NQH), a school of historical scholarship that implicitly challenges CCP narratives of a united, multi-ethnic “Chinese nation.” NQH argues the Qing Dynasty was a Manchu-ruled multinational empire, with Han-heartland China as just one of its domains. In summer 2026, United Front Work Department offices accused NQH of being a “theory weapon” crafted by separatist forces to divide China. Read more through the link below 🔗🇨🇳 jamestown.org/campaign-again… 📰 by @johnddotson #PRC #Geopolitics #NewQingHistory #EthnicUnityLaw #ChinaBrief #JamestownFoundation

Recent @vantortech satellite imagery from October 2026 of the second reconstruction effort at the Taleghan 2 nuclear weapons related R&D facility shows that this effort is progressing rapidly. The facility was first bombed by Israel in October 2024. Despite Iran having expanded and hardened the facility after the first bombing (REF 1), Israel used bunker buster bombs to again attack the facility as well as destroy additional structures around the site (REF 2).  Since March 2026, Iran has repaired the roof covering, most recently adding three concrete pads directly over the penetration holes, possibly to serve as hatchways or vents. Whatever their function, associated construction activity was concealed by temporary tarp coverings in September (REF 3). Other work included reinforcing the structure with two stepped concrete side walls, and completing a new hardened entrance way that was damaged in the last bombing. This effort has been an intensive undertaking by Iran to reconstruct the facility, but when it could become operational is unclear. The reasoning why Iran is reconstructing a well known and well characterized facility is perplexing, but, at a minimum, it shows that Iran wants to reestablish its lost capabilities there. Below are several images showing the current state of construction since the facility was destroyed by an airstrike in March 2026.  REF 1: isis-online.org/isis-reports… REF 2: isis-online.org/isis-reports… REF 3: isis-online.org/isis-reports…

"Against this backdrop, South Korea is moving beyond the mere export of finished weapon systems; it aims to establish industrial partnerships with NATO members across areas such as joint research and development, co-production, and equipment maintenance and support. On one hand, South Korea is continuously increasing its engagement with NATO’s multilateral mechanisms. It has initiated negotiations on a "Basic Procurement Agreement" with NATO and released guidelines on adopting and managing NATO standards, thereby aligning domestic defense products more closely with NATO requirements and paving the way for South Korean companies to enter the NATO joint procurement market. South Korea participates as an observer in NATO projects concerning defense raw materials—covering areas such as ammunition, propellants, and specialty metals—and has joined NATO’s "SpaceNet" initiative, collaborating on satellite imagery sharing and space situational awareness. Furthermore, in April of this year, South Korea hosted a delegation of ambassadors from all 30 NATO member states, organizing tours of defense production lines and discussions on cooperative strategies to explore opportunities for multilateral collaboration. Meanwhile, South Korean companies are accelerating the establishment of localized equipment support systems across Europe. Currently, Hanwha Group is building a production plant in Romania for K9 self-propelled howitzers and ammunition resupply vehicles; Hyundai Group has partnered with Polish firms to undertake the local production and maintenance of armored vehicles; and Hanwha Aerospace is advancing the local construction of a missile final assembly plant in Poland. Moving forward, South Korea plans to continue negotiating procurement framework agreements to enable its companies to participate in NATO joint procurement; expand the scope of joint R&D, focusing on areas such as long-range precision munitions, ground-based air defense systems, and space situational awareness systems; and establish a mechanism for regular meetings between the South Korean and NATO defense industries to create a platform for normalized cooperation. **Emerging Geopolitical Security Risks** South Korea’s continued alignment with NATO and the expansion of cooperation aim to integrate domestic defense firms into NATO’s long-term supply chains, thereby converting its production capacity advantages into stable, long-term export revenue. At the same time, South Korea hopes to leverage its status as a NATO industry partner to enhance its international influence. However, South Korea’s push for deep cooperation with NATO’s defense industry is likely to trigger a geopolitical chain reaction with trans-regional implications, giving rise to multiple security risks. For South Korea, tying itself to NATO’s defense industry could curtail its strategic autonomy. Should NATO initiate wartime mobilization of its defense supply chain, some of South Korea’s defense production lines and ammunition supply chains might be incorporated into NATO’s procurement and logistics networks, effectively linking the South Korean defense industry to NATO’s security architecture. Defense industry strengths originally intended to bolster national power could transform into strategic constraints; South Korea might be compelled to prioritize NATO equipment and ammunition orders, passively sharing the burden of supplying defense materiel to the European theater. Furthermore, deep industrial integration requires South Korea to disclose certain equipment performance specifications and obtain NATO system certification. The development of domestic defense equipment would need to align with NATO’s unified technical specifications and equipment data interface standards, thereby restricting choices regarding technical pathways and component selection. For NATO, defense industry cooperation with South Korea represents a key step in implementing its strategic posture in the Indo-Pacific region. Defense industry cooperation, characterized by relatively low barriers to entry and strong ties between partners, serves as a common pathway for strengthening military linkages. By leveraging South Korea’s mature defense industrial base and unique geostrategic location, NATO could extend its European supply chains—covering weapons production, ammunition resupply, and maintenance and support—into the Asia-Pacific region. This would deepen security ties between Europe and Asia while establishing regular communication channels through industrial cooperation, thereby providing a pretext for NATO to intervene in Asia-Pacific security affairs. Viewed within the broader regional landscape, the mutual alignment between South Korea and NATO is poised to exacerbate the polarization of global defense blocs and heighten uncertainty regarding the global security situation." Watch how incapable and incompetent the Saudi land forces in Yemen are. Footage released by the Houthi terrorists purportedly shows how just five of their fighters—only five—routed and destroyed an entire Royal Saudi Army brigade composed of Yemeni mercenaries under the command of several Saudi officers, destroying their armoured personnel carriers in Najran. Note: The humiliated Saudis will comment below this post as usual claiming this is not true and they have no troops in Yemen and these Houthis are fighting ghosts!

WSJ: "Last year, China’s credit to the nonfinancial sector—a broad measure of corporate, government and household borrowings—topped 300% of gross domestic product, 60 percentage points higher than at the end of 2019 and now far bigger than in the U.S. As the article notes, this surge in debt is largely caused by Beijing's need to maintain investment at an extraordinarily high 40% of GDP if it is to achieve its politically-determined growth targets, even though a rising share of this investment is funding economically non-viable projects. wsj.com/world/china/xis-supe…

Oct 12, 1940. One British cruiser, alone in the moonlight, against a pack of Italian torpedo boats and destroyers. HMS Ajax was already famous. Ten months earlier she'd helped hunt down the German pocket battleship Graf Spee at the Battle of the River Plate. Now she was in the Mediterranean, scouting out on her own ahead of the British fleet southeast of Sicily. Just after 1:30 a.m., under a full moon, three Italian torpedo boats spotted her and charged. They fired torpedo after torpedo. Every one missed. One of them, Airone, closed to about 750 yards and opened fire with her guns, hitting Ajax on the bridge and below the waterline and starting a fire. Then Ajax hit back. In minutes, Airone and Ariel were sinking. The Italians weren't done. Four destroyers came in next, led by Captain Carlo Margottini aboard Artigliere. Artigliere's shells knocked out one of Ajax's gun mounts and her radar. Ajax turned on her and smashed her. Artigliere was left burning and dead in the water, with Margottini among the dead. Another destroyer, Aviere, was badly damaged. At dawn another Italian destroyer was towing the crippled Artigliere home when the British heavy cruiser HMS York appeared over the horizon. The Italians cut the tow and ran. York gave Artigliere's crew time to get off the ship. Then she sank her. When it was over, one cruiser had sunk two torpedo boats, wrecked a destroyer, and damaged another. Around 300 Italian sailors were dead. Ajax lost 13 men. Three weeks later she was back at sea.

Incredible footage recorded by Ukrainian aerobatic pilot Timur Faktullin flying his Antonov An-28, armed with a Dillon Aero M134 Gatling gun, as his crew shoots down Geran-2 one-way attack drones launched by the Russian armed forces over Ukraine. The footage shows the precision with which this volunteer pilot and his crew work together to intercept and bring down these drones. Incredible footage!

Double-whammy sky-watching opportunity from the DC area Tuesday morning! 🪼 Space jellyfish: A Falcon 9 rocket launch at 6:33 a.m. from Cape Canaveral, Fla., could produce a "space jellyfish" in the southern and southeastern sky a few minutes later. This phenomenon occurs when a rocket's exhaust plume is illuminated by sunlight high in the atmosphere while the sky below is still dark, creating a glowing, jellyfish-shaped cloud. 🛰️ ISS fly over: The International Space Station is on track to be visible from the DC region for several minutes starting around 6:35 a.m., moving across the sky from the south-southwest to the east-northeast. These two events are connected! The Falcon 9 rocket is carrying supplies to the ISS. Skies should be mostly clear Tuesday morning, so wake up early and enjoy!
